Overview: Hi, I’m Pete Thorsen. I write short apocalyptic fiction stories (sometimes called ‘doomer’ fiction). I enjoy writing these stories set in different possible futures. My stories are all made to be easy reads with no sex or strong language and can be read by teens or adults. Most of my stories do contain some violence so use some caution before you recommend any of my stories to your kids. I do research on many parts of each story and try to make them all realistic and possible, but with some scenarios (like say an EMP or solar CME) there are many ‘experts’ that have theories that vary widely as to the effect and outcome. So when reading a story, you might find that I write something that is different from what you have heard would happen but I have just chosen to listen to a different ‘expert.’ My books are fiction and not ‘how-to’ books though sometimes I try to include some small tidbits of valid survival knowledge. So while they are complete works of fiction, some small parts might be factual and something you might at some point find useful. I write about things that could happen in the future. No one knows what will happen in the future or where any series of events will ultimately lead. These stories are simply my guess of possible outcomes. Your guess of how the scenarios play out may well be quite different than mine. I also try to have my stories take place in different parts of the United States.

Korean Chaos
Lars and his family feel safe in their rural house in the middle of America. But with North Korea constantly threatening the United States and now knowing that Korea does have long range ICBM’s and the nukes to fit them, things seem much more serious. So together the married couple decides to take a few precautions for ‘just in case.’ The question is have they done enough and done it soon enough? Can they protect their young daughter if something does happen?
A Rocky Demise
A bitter young man that is totally disenchanted with America’s government ekes out a living alone on a small homestead. Completely by chance he meets a young woman who also has no love for the government who made her a widow. They come together and realize the government has nothing to do with the feelings that each have for the other and soon they are wed. By happenstance they barely start their lives together when twin asteroids strike the Earth causing an incredible disaster.
Viral Survival
A young couple believes they have the world by its tail as they live happily together in their somewhat rural Minnesota home. Though they see possible economic problems ahead for many parts of the world they are at least somewhat prepared to weather that turmoil.
Then they and the whole world are blind-sided by a pandemic of epic proportions. Though they manage to survive the virus they now find they are living in a completely different world. Surviving the virus turns out to be only the first step in their new life.
