The Celaeri Song series by Jim Greenfield (#1-3)

Overview: Jim Greenfield – Bio
I started reading Horror around the time Stephen King began writing and added HP Lovecraft to my library shortly thereafter. Toss in Edgar Allan Poe and the foundation for all the Horror you need is established. I like Horror that is not clear cut, Horror that may or may not be real outside the protagonist’s mind but oh so real for our characters.
For years my Horror and Dark Fantasy tales have been short stories but now I am spreading out into a larger format with Dark Apostle. The characters resonate with me and more books are in the works. Maxine D’Rose is a keeper.
Genre: Science Fiction & Fantasy

The Ghost of Eslenda (The Celaeri Song #1)
There is strife in Eslenda as the Princes fight for position to succeed their still-living father. When the King is assassinated, Eslenda is plunged into civil war. From across the seas comes an ancient race determined to conquer every kingdom in their path. Will the feuding factions of Eslenda pull together to defend against the Turucks, or will the invaders claim the kingdom as their own? The legendary mercenaries, the Talos Company, have trailed the Turucks from Anavar to Amloth, right into the battles of Eslenda.
Prince Hal is the heir but his brother has imprisoned him – can Prince Hal escape and rally his people? He may have to call upon powers beyond his control to find victory. Can he take the risk? Can legends and ghosts help him save his kingdom, and to what cost?

Greyrawk (The Celaeri Song #2)
Ian Greyrawk has returned to his ancestral home to quell an unvoiced longing and discovers that the people of Cresida wish him to reclaim his family’s place in the northern marches. The local strongman, Belderag, killed Greyrawk’s grandfather and took claim to the Greyrawk land. He will not permit Greyrawk to return and dilute his control over north Cresida. The northern area of Cresida was once home to an ancient race called Celaeri, who ruled the land and enslaved humans. Their shadows are rising again—and they claim Greyrawk to be a descendant. Where should Greyrawk’s loyalty lie? The Celaeri return to Cresida like a wind, cold and biting, indifferent to the suffering of humans.
The legendary Talos Company mercenaries have crossed the sea from Anavar to Amloth once more, but instead of Eslenda they go east into Cresida to assist Ian Greyrawk, a descendant of Loric Greyrawk, who is half Celaeri and a member of the company.

The Vlakan King (The Celaeri Song #3)
Once again Ian Greyrawk is pulled to Cresida, leaving behind his wife and children. His Celaeri blood is tainted, and he fears he will become a Vlakan, a creature of violence, and lose his humanity like so many of the Celaeri transformed over the years. His son Davan travels to call upon the legendary Talos Company to help, but they are embroiled in a battle with the minions of an ancient evil, and Davan must find his own way to help his father with the reluctant assistance of a sullen teenage sorcerer. Can the rulers of Cresida defend themselves against the Celaeri without the Talos Company? Will the conflict that drew the Talos Company from Cresida’s assistance throw Anavar into chaos?
