Overview:Earth is destroyed in 2123. Global wars follow. The survivors went to the solar system and beyond. Humankind is divided into the Kavinites who believe in a rigid central authority and the Loftgrinists who believe in planetary independence. Eventually civil war breaks out. It lasts for a hundred years. There was a shaky peace for two hundred fifty years. Then, no one is sure of the exact cause but it’s war all over again.
A two person Kavinite scout ship runs into a huge sphere. They can’t destroy it and are fired upon. The Loftgrinist system comes under attack. Part of their defense is the Psych Corps. They can get into the minds of enemy troops and destroy them. After a successful battle against their enemy, the huge sphere appears. They think it’s another Kalvinite ship.
Turns out it’s the Seeker. It was sent out two hundred years ago with a two thousand person crew to investigare retorts of an alien civilization called the Erna. When the four person Psych Corps and Naval personel go on board, it’s crystal clean with no sign of life…..until Nils Kendler shows up. They also find the Kavinite ship. The two person crew is insane. Kendler’s not talking and no amount of interogation on mind probe can open him up.
One of the Psych Corp is forty yesar old Rad Donalt. Another member is eighteen year old Jenica Stoy. She’s a clone of Donalt’s old girlfriend who was killed ten years ago. She has visions of a starman with wings of fire.
As things move along Kendlet tells them about the Erna. They had a sentinel on Earth in the great pyramid of Giza waiting for humankind to flourish.
The ship heads for the Erna system. The Erna are pure energy and they’re bored. What happened to the original crew of the Seeker? Will this crew meet the same fate. Big things are in store for Donalt.
