Overview: Miles: In my opinion, a man had a right to celebrate his thirty-seventh birthday in any way he deemed fit. When I decided I wanted to party until I didn’t remember the year I was born, I determined it would be a good idea find a warm body to accompany me in my goal. I didn’t expect to meet a handsome young guy at the bar to take my mind off my troubles, which included a surprise marriage for my mother to a man she’d only known for a month, nor that my best friend and law partner would turn into a useless idiot at the prospect of his wife having their first baby.
Life’s highway had a wicked way of reminding a person they don’t have a lot of control over which lane they’ll swerve into at any given moment. If anyone didn’t believe that, I’d tell them the story of my father, a loving man who died way too young.
Fate was definitely a cruel mistress, but when I met the gorgeous redheaded grad student whose shining hazel eyes held flecks of gold, I had a hard time seeing the line, which was getting blurrier every time I held Taylor in my arms. As I watched him dancing in his leather pants while calling me ‘Daddy,’ I decided it wouldn’t hurt to take a test drive. Of course, I didn’t see the sign…
Beware…
Potholes ahead

Taylor: Getting busted for a pot possession charge wasn’t something I’d planned to do, and seeing my uncle nearly go apoplectic when he came to bail me out made me want to laugh. His ranting was unavoidable, and it would have been funny if I didn’t know his behavior was nothing compared to what I’d meet when my father found out.
Dad and I both had surprises for each other, but when I arrived in Washington, DC, to confess my sins to the man, I decided one night with a sexy guy had to happen because I would be going on lockdown for a long time. I couldn’t begin to believe my own stupid luck at meeting Tommy…his bar name, of course.
There was a pull between us we couldn’t break, and if I had my way, we wouldn’t. I could see the man was skittish, and if he hadn’t settled down by thirty-seven, he probably never would. That was a reality I tried to accept, but when he came back for more? All bets were off.
Neither of us had any idea what the cosmos had in store for us, and I didn’t know if we could maneuver the curves coming our way. God knew, if I had my way, Miles…his real name…would be mine. Unfortunately, there were roadblocks neither of us could have anticipated.
Can we travel the road to get to each other?
Caution…
Detour ahead.
