Jack Vance by Tim Underwood, Chuck Miller (Writers of the 21st century)
Requirements: .PDF reader, 2 mb
Overview: Along with other established writers, Jack Vance has benefited from this sudden widespread acceptance and interest in science fiction. More than a dozen of his novels which were long out-of-print have been repackaged and reprinted. Today, nearly thirty of his SF novels and story collections are available in the United States. A good many of these have been translated and published overseas. The future for SF seems bright indeed.
This collection of essays on Jack Vance’s speculative fiction is timely and extremely apropos. As Poul Anderson points out in this volume’s Afterword, despite having won a Nebula and two Hugos (and an Edgar for his mystery writing), Vance’s work has received little critical attention. Probably no other author in the field has received as much acclaim and as little analysis.
