2. The Clay House
‘That’s how Jack always remembered that day… A cold and dead dock in the middle of a gray Autumn.’

What does the murder of a schoolgirl, a twenty year old ongoing investigation into a serial killer, and the mass killing of a wealthy family all have in common?

That’s the conundrum facing Detective Sergeant Jack Sheridan when he’s called anonymously by a killer and given the location of a new dumpsite. Contacting an old colleague from his Scotland Yard days, Detective Chief Inspector Glenn Morris, Jack finds himself pulled into an investigation that began twenty years ago on a cold London dock.

Adding to his problems, Jack must also hunt for a child killer loose on his patch. Banking on the killer’s guilty conscience, he sets a trap and lies in wait for his man to step into the snare.

Detective Inspector Robert Burrell is called to South London Marina in the early hours to an abandoned yacht. A routine job for his first day back from vacation. However, when police searching for the owner find him and his family hanging in a tree, the media are whipped into a frenzy by the man’s powerful father and Burrell finds himself under pressure to find a crazed killer before another family meets the same fate.

While navigating his way through a world of tortured souls, sadistic killers, missing daughters, abandoned grandsons, and wrathful lovers, Jack must get to the bottom of how three separate crimes come unavoidably crashing together.

3. Into The Woods
Promoted back to Scotland Yard, haunted London cop Jack Sheridan travels up to Kielder Forest in northern England to investigate the abduction of two young girls. He finds a place full of secrets—as well as a vast ocean of trees. A place with a history of missing children dating back to the late-seventies. Thirteen in all. Five dismembered bodies found buried within the roots of the forest. The Kielder Witch. Never caught.

Add to this the mystery of a kidnapping that went tragically wrong twenty-five years ago, and Jack finds himself on a constantly shifting plane. While unearthing more and more secrets, as well as bodies, he must simultaneously keep his recovering addict daughter straight and his new detective inspector sweet.

In a place of myths and trees, Jack struggles not to lose himself as he wanders through the dark woods towards a final truth which will change him—and those around him—forever.

4. The End is Nigh
“Look at me, Jack. This city swallowed me up. It broke me. Erased who I was. Now I’m just waitin’ to die.”

While searching for a missing undercover agent, careworn London detective Jack Sheridan finds himself thrust into the center of two equally deviant crimes. Firstly, he arrives at a park to find the mutilated remains of a recently butchered woman. Scrawled in her blood on a nearby wall are the words: I am his eyes. It’s the second in the last month and it becomes increasingly clear that London has another killer on the loose. Secondly, Jack finds himself walking into a mass poisoning. Badly cut heroin. With everyone in the criminal world blaming each other, a drugs war seems imminent on London’s streets.

Then, if that wasn’t enough, the already labored detective is forced to confront one of the most harrowing and guilty secrets of his past when an old friend goes missing and the man’s brother asks Jack to help find him. “He’s playin’ some kind of game,” the brother tells him. But just what that ‘game’ is will lead Jack to a truly devastating realization.

With a killer known as the Watchman terrorizing the city, a drugs war causing carnage, poisoned junkies, the mystery of his missing friend, fallen undercover agents, his daughter’s ever-diminishing mental state, and so much more weighing him down, Jack Sheridan has to confront his past while trying to steer the present into some semblance of order. Is the end truly nigh?

6. Holier Than Thou
London, 1986: a place of racial tension, Thatcherite individualism and police violence.

Police Constable Jack Sheridan finds a young girl wandering the streets alone. Taking him by the hand, she leads Jack to a heartbreaking scene.

Only a constable, Jack is initially kept at the periphery of the ensuing rape investigation until the lead detective takes a shine to him and invites him onto the team.

After finding friend and colleague Bob Francis dead, journalist Jonny Cockburn begins looking into a story Bob was writing about missing children. Aided by his editor David Hanson, Jonny follows a rabbit down a hole and is gradually led towards a horrific discovery.

With the journalist and the budding detective on seemingly separate paths, it isn’t long before they both end up meeting in the middle and must work together to uncover the truth.

7. Streetlight City
Amongst the urban rubble of east London one man searches for his lost sister; another for his lost love; and everyone else for a killer.

Winter 1989 is especially cold for Detective Sergeant Jack Sheridan when he’s assigned to a two-year-old investigation into the Docklands Ripper, a brutal killer already credited with the murder of five prostitutes.

As Jack and his partners delve into the tangled threads of the investigation thus far, it soon becomes clear that everything isn’t as straight forward as it should be. And when the detectives are drawn into the seedy world of illegal pornography, they begin to smell the foul stench of human corruption.

With little help from his so-called colleagues and under suspicion as to why he’s on the investigation in the first place, Jack finds himself immersed in the world of the Ripper: his neighborhood: his hunting ground. A place of social decay, drugs and prostitution, where the light no longer reaches down into the crevices, where the women sell the only thing left to them, the children run feral and the men prey upon helplessness.

Where even the light is shrouded in dark.
