Surveillance (Ghost Targets #1)
We abandoned privacy and turned databases into something like gods. They listened to our prayers. They met our needs and blessed us with new riches. They watched over us, protected us, and punished the wicked among us. We almost made a paradise.
But there were those who tried to hide from the databases’ all-seeing eye. They used their wealth or power or intellect to turn themselves into ghosts within the endless archive. For years these ghosts have used their anonymity to perpetrate atrocious crimes and slip away unscathed. And now someone among them may go further still. Someone wants to bring the system down.
The only thing that stands in his way is the FBI’s understaffed and overwhelmed Ghost Targets section. The agent on the case is their newest rookie, Special Agent Katie Pratt, and she’s in over her head. The first day on the job gives her an unsolvable murder that ultimately leads her to the greatest threat these gods have ever seen. Can one desperate woman prevent the downfall of her entire society?
2. Expectation (Ghost Targets #2)
FBI Special Agent Katie Pratt returns to the Ghost Targets team to find herself and the rest of the team under investigation for corruption by a government agency. Katie’s relationship with Martin Door, one of the creators of the Hathor system and its surveillance of everyone and everything, leaves her especially vulnerable.
The new boss assigns Katie to a case in Boulder, Colorado to save her from ongoing interrogation, but the case quickly steals the Ghost Targets team’s full attention. A scientist, violently attacked in his own lab, is in a coma.
The victim leads the research for a drug that could end human aging, extending lifespans to thousands of years. The key to the drug is locked in his slumbering brain, but even in this world where every action is recorded in Hathor, the records of the attack on him are gone. Katie must uncover the truth to protect the miracle drug and regain her own reputation.
Katie’s search for answers will force her to scale a mountain of secrets and lies whose summit is the overwhelming power of human expectation.
Camouflage (Ghost Targets #4)
We abandoned privacy and turned databases into something like gods. They listened to our prayers. They met our needs and blessed us with new riches. They watched over us, protected us, and punished the wicked. We almost made a paradise.
But there were still places the system could not see. Heading into the high mountains and deep woods was like stepping back in time, to an era where archives were incomplete and untrustworthy. Now a new threat has taken root in the cracks, threatening to expand the already dangerous gaps. Somewhere in remote West Virginia, where the databases’ all-seeing eye sometimes falters, a sheriff is murdered and only the FBI’s Ghost Targets team can track down the killers.
Saddled with a new partner she doesn’t trust, Katie Pratt finds herself in a town whose archive is as full of holes as the people are full of mistrust for federal agents. Trapped in a community of petty criminals, Katie becomes the hunted. Now this city girl must fight to survive in a wilderness without Hathor.
