Overview: So who am I? I am an author and a storyteller. I am a computer programmer and an amateur woodworker and a road cyclist. 1. A Town Called Potato
A hard-boiled computer professional is plucked from the mean streets of Indianapolis. Well okay, Indianapolis streets aren’t really that mean. They can be rough, though. Especially during pothole season, which lasts about six months from mid-winter to whenever the city’s new budget year kicks in. Anyway, this guy is plucked and swept up into a web of interstellar crime when he is recruited into the Galactic Detective Agency. Can a mere Earthling track a killer across the stars before more lives are lost? Can he negotiate his way around other worlds and understand the ways of extra-terrestrial cultures? Can he even figure out how to use a bathroom designed for aliens? And can he uncover the mystery of A Town Called Potato?
2. The Maltese Salmon
A legendary gemstone worth a fortune has been stolen. The GDA team traces the jewel to a secluded luxury hotel on the dead world of Malt where private spaceships aren’t allowed and the shuttle arrives only every few days. Then a murder occurs, and all the guests as well as the Galactic Detective Agency crew find themselves trapped with a killer. Can they uncover the murderer? Can they recover the stolen gem? Can the Galactic Detective Agency pull together the clues to solve the mystery of The Maltese Salmon?
3. Return of the Judy
Gabriel Lake and the Galactic Detective Agency crew return for their third comedy sci-fi mystery adventure. A delegation from the Galactic Alliance secretly arrives in Indiana for an early reassessment of Earth’s quarantine status. The mission is something of a homecoming for a Bononian named Judy, who served on the last evaluation mission in the 1950s. But it all goes pear-shaped when an Earthling is killed, and Judy goes missing. An urgent call goes out to the Galactic Detective Agency to investigate. But in doing so they will have to fend off paranoid conspiracy theorists and evade trigger-happy government agents, all while trying to keep the whole interstellar mission under wraps. It will take all their wit and resourcefulness to pull off their assignment in the Return of the Judy.
4. The Big Sneep
Murder and romance are on the table when Gabriel Lake’s big dinner date with his girlfriend, Sarah, is interrupted by the Galactic Detective Agency calling him once more to an adventure out among the stars. This time Sarah comes along for the wild and dangerous ride. The case takes them to a huge orbiting space colony called Sneep inhabited by a community of engineers who are genetically too serious-minded to get Gabe’s jokes and far too law-abiding to ever commit crimes. Except now a killer is picking off the colony’s best minds one after another. Can the Galactic Detective Agency, headed by the brilliant Oren Vilkas, piece together the clues in time to catch the murderer? Can Gabe and Sarah navigate this strange alien world and the pitfalls of a relationship at the same time? For that matter, will Gabe ever get to finish his dinner?
