#1 – One Must Wait
Carole Ann Gibson: They call her the best damn trial lawyer in town, and in a town like Washington, DC, that’s no small feat. She’s a partner in a top tier law firm earning big bucks keeping criminals out of jail. She’s so good at her job that she almost blows the case of the first innocent client she’s had in years—a rookie DC cop,Tommy Griffin, wrongly accused of being dirty—because she hadn’t realized that she’d begun to treat all criminal cases the same. But when the client isn’t a criminal? It was exactly the wake-up call she needed: The reminder that it doesn’t matter how well you know the law if you’ve forgotten what justice is. At the same time CA is having her crisis of conscience, a highly paid partner in another big time law firm is having similar feelings about his corporate client criminals. That lawyer is CA’s husband, Al. Suppose they didn’t defend criminals any more—white collar or no collar? Before they can really enjoy the feeling of freedom, Al is killed in what appears to be a random street mugging. DC is, after all, a dangerous city at night. But things aren’t always what they seem, especially in the dark hallways of the rich and powerful in DC. It’s Tommy Griffin, the rookie cop that CA saved, who shakes her out of her grief with the fact that Al’s death was no accident—he was murdered. The homicide detective on the case took a bullet in the back to shut down his investigation gives CA one piece of advice: Don’t get mad, get even. The best damn trial lawer in town is on a mission to find out who murdered her husband. The search takes her to the bayous of Louisiana where things really get dark and dangerous, where nothing and nobody are what they seem, where CA almost loses her own life in the search to bring her husband’s killer to justice…and where the law is a murky as the swamps.

#2 – Where to Choose
As the best damn trial lawyer in town, Carole Ann Gibson had defended them all—from the white collar crooks who stole with computers and legal loopholes to the street crooks who dealt drugs and stole with knives and guns. Then the bad guys took her husband’s life and CA walked away from her law practice. But what does a lawyer who doesn’t practice law do all day, especially if she’s still all but paralyzed by grief? What does she do with her wealth if all that money can’t buy back her husband’s life? She answers a call for help from her mother and runs home to Los Angeles, only to find the beautiful, peaceful community where she grew up—Jacaranda Estates—controlled by violent thugs who prey on the mostly senior residents, and a police department that seems not to care. CA is confused and perplexed by the situation and searches for some kind of logical explanation. Then her mother is attacked and beaten and all logic evaporates. As a long-time martial arts practitioner, CA rushes to her mother’s rescue with one thought in mind: To hurt the attacker before he can cause any more harm to her mother. But CA doesn’t just hurt him, she kills him. Once again, everything in her life changes shape. And once again, the cops and the lawyer who came to her aid and rescue in Louisiana are there for her. And it’s a good thing, too, because the brand of evil that has invaded Jacaranda Estates is more sinister than anyone can imagine.

#3 – The Step Between
No matter how hard she tries to live the quiet life, trouble has a way of grabbing Carole Ann Gibson by the throat — and this time all her famous intuition and raw courage might not be enough to save her.

In the heartbreaking aftermath of her husband’s death, Carole Ann, widely known as "the best damn trial lawyer in D.C.," left her criminal-law practice for what she hoped was a safer, saner life as a partner in her friend Jake’s security firm. But when the richest man in Washington, D.C., hires her to find his daughter, she is caught up in a tangle of family relationships in which the stakes are not only money but life itself. Add to that a routine surveillance job that turns up three corpses and the kidnapping of her partner’s beloved wife, Grace, and Carole Anne is — once again — in over her head in the kind of trouble that launches an all-out attack on her survival skills.

#4 – Paradise Interrupted
She’s first G in GGI: Gibson, Graham International, the investigative and security company founded by ex-criminal defense attorney Carole Ann Gibson and ex-DC homicide detective Jacob Graham. It didn’t take long for the DC-based company to earn a reputation as one of the best in the business. Their newest job: Guide a newly independent Caribbean nation enter the 21 century. The island nation contracts GGI to do it all—from the establishment of a police force to bringing telephone service to the island to ensuring that modern, international security protocols protect the new president and his ministers as they conduct business. Then the president’s two body guards are murdered and GGI must build a police department in a hurry. A fugitive drug dealer from DC is hiding out on the island, construction of a road to the new government building is sabotaged and the foreman murdered, and CA is attacked in the yard of her home on the island. And she’s on her own this time—nothing to fall back on but her her own skill, wit, and the new chief of the island’s new five person police force.
