Overview: By the beginning of the war, there were about a thousand warships of various classes (including 3 battleships, 8 cruisers, 54 leaders and destroyers, 287 torpedo boats, 212 submarines) in the USSR Navy, over 2,500 naval aircraft and 260 batteries coastal defense. In the course of military operations, the Azov, White Sea, Volga, Dnieper, Ilmen, Ladoga, Onega and Chud flotillas were formed. In general, the fleet was a powerful strike force capable of significantly influencing the situation both at sea and in the coastal strip of ground forces.
