Requirements: ePUB / MOBI Reader, 1.5MB
Overview: VayneLine Chronicles is a collection of individual stories that all take place within the VayneLine universe and as such they do not need to be read in order but are part of an overall narrative.  They represent different aspects of our future: ranging from how free will and destiny interact, to conceptions of ‘God’, to more close to our heart topics like survival with a loved one during war.

The stories presented here are in the order I actually wrote them, and while some stories may come ‘before’ or ‘after’ another, they are generally all in the same time period which is before the outbreak of the Burn war in VayneLine.

Each story is completely independent, and written in such a way that a reader with no previous knowledge could pick any one of them up and enjoy it, yet readers familiar with the VayneLine universe will recognize many things such as technology or political underpinnings.
Genre: Fiction; Sci-fi/Fantasy

Slipdrift
The violent sport of Gun-Drift still endures with its popularity, despite calls to stop the game, or the occasional rumor of illegal/deadly versions.  Nearly every planetary system contains an Arena that has Gun-Drift among its events and carries a tremendous public following.  There have only been a few substantiated reports of these unregulated Arenas, but have proved difficult to close down the tight crime rings that keep them in operation.

Ironically, the Emotion-Field concept as an aspect to reality proved so revolutionary that the first groups to find evidence of its existence fought and killed for its secrets, deeply contrary to the discovery’s eventual implications.  It was the first indication of higher dimensional aspects that influenced our reality, as well as our own ability to change them

‘Marking’— the term that has gained popularity refers to someone whose hair has turned neon white, thereby ‘marking them for death’.  This is rumored to be caused by being in close proximity to certain locations, or finding specific things one ‘should not have’.  Among the speculation is an increase in physical and mental abilities at the cost of being ‘marked’ for death by unknown entities.  So far this has yet to be substantiated.  Conspiracy theorists counter that this is because the subjects die too fast.

Interestingly, there are, and have been, many examples of colonies that regressed in terms of either culture or science, yet held onto various aspects of advancement.  Often in particularly regressed colonies, technology took on a ‘magical’ symbolism to it.  However, there are still artifacts discovered to this day that even with our current understanding they likewise have a similar effect of ‘magic’ on the general populace.

The ‘Rank’ system has proven to be a very effective deterrent to crime since its implementation.  By allowing those charged with crimes to repent for them by bringing other criminals to justice, it has successfully eliminated all but the most dedicated criminal networks.  Further, it has opened up a career field for those particularly good at bringing those who are highly Ranked to justice.

Proud Infinity
One of the more interesting theories that have come to gain more credibility is the theory that certain events can be so damaging to the framework of reality that time fractures backwards to prevent this event from occurring.

…‘Time’ as used in the dimensional sense had grown to be an increasingly complex subject as there is mounting evidence of both a preferential flow to it, and in some cases what could only loosely be termed as a ‘reroute’.

Mirrored Sky
It is important to note that many races, Solarian included, colonized different fringe galaxies and were lost to the main race.  With the distribution of the Jump Drive, entire galaxies or solar systems could be colonized that were never heard from again as they set off into the void.  In some of them, very relevant events occurred that came back to play a larger role in the events that unfolded for the Solarian Federation.

Rexrin Protocol
…The Rexrin Protocol was an update to nanite programming that closed an exploitable loophole regarding the N-Limit vulnerability from outside sources.

…The situation involving the experimentation, and subsequent annihilation, of a whole planet was sharply criticized for the method the loophole was tested with, even though it was many solar cycles before it was ever revealed.

…Rumors still circulate that the name ‘Rexrin’ was named in crude homage to two individuals heavily involved in the circumstances, but there never has been any proof for this claim.
