Danceland
Danceland is told in diary form by two narrators, Orient and Lobo. Long-time Bordertowners, both have been desperadoes: they know the dangers of the city, and they know its delights. Orient is liked by many, and likes who he is now. But before he became Orient, he was an addict, drinking the water of the Mad River, which drives him to do terrible things. The runaway, Camilla, whom Orient renames Caramel, witnesses a murder and the two are captured by the killers. Their captors leave water for them to drink, Mad River water. Orient must fight to resist the temptation to drink. Once they escape, the killers must be caught or it’s Orient, Caramel, and their friends on the line. Danceland is the quintessential Bordertown story, typical for Bordertown and the urban fantasy of the 1980s and 1990s. Music, dancing, and friendship are important. The good people are bohemians living on the edge, but not actually living in desperation, while the villains are either the aristocracy or the real desperados on the streets.

Finder
Welcome to Bordertown. A hybrid community of misfits, oddballs and runaways. Where humans, elves and halflings co-exist. Where magic and the brutal realities of survival clash and mix. For Orient and Tick-Tick, it’s just home. Death and dark magic hang over the city. A seductive new drug lures young runaways to their destruction. A mysterious plague spreads through the streets. And beneath the clock tower on High Street, Bonnie Prince Charlie lies slain by an unseen hand. A cop named Sunny Rico exploits Orient’s talent for finding objects to track the killer and leads both herself and him into the darker secrets of Elflands’ immigrant citizens.
