Having never played a video game before, though, Cadence is subjected to completely unfamiliar territory. Unlike every other player inside Uniworld, she isn’t playing the game to kill monsters and get stronger; instead, she wants to help the citizens of the world (which the other players call NPCs), which gives her a sense of purpose while her body heals back in the real world.
The best thing about Uniworld, however, is that it provides her with something she has never had before: a voice. And with that voice, she has an opportunity to bring justice to her attackers – and maybe even change the landscape of Uniworld in the process.

1. The Song Maiden
On her first day at college, Cadence was forced to leave a classroom by a high-strung professor because of her disability. When she tried to leave behind the embarrassing and hurtful experience, she ran from the campus to clear her mind – and ended up in the hospital.
While recovering, she was introduced to the NVERS, a virtual reality system where she could experience Uniworld as if she were really there. Having never played any video games before, she didn’t know what to expect; the attitude of the rude and power-hungry players she initially met almost made her want to stop.
But after acquiring a unique quest, she found that Uniworld was even more complicated than she had imagined. Added to this, she became a Bard and was able to do something she had never been able to do before – sing. But with the ability to finally sing comes a whole new set of challenges – and dangers.
2. The Song Mistress
After the events which caused Cadence to lose consciousness within Uniworld Online, she was now being monitored by the company in charge of the game – Unitech. This surveillance meant that the fledgling Song Maiden had to watch what abilities she used within the game, otherwise she might attract the wrong kind of attention and be accused of cheating or hacking.
Despite these setbacks, Cadence is joined once again by her friends Brendare and Wengla, as well as Mera – the grateful young woman they had narrowly saved from being sacrificed by Corrupted Druids. With new gear and a renewed drive to find and punish the player-killers who had killed Cadence, they journeyed onward, getting stronger and picking up allies along the way.
But danger is just around the corner as they learn that Brendare and the “mysterious Bard” are being hunted by guilds wanting to know the secret behind their winning dungeon run. And, when Cadence and her party are forced to quickly make their way toward Lightforge – the Human capital city – they are presented with a whole new challenge: crafting.
With everything going on within the game, Cadence is ecstatic because her body in the real world is also healing faster than her doctor had expected. In addition to her limbs recovering from the abuse they suffered at the hands of her attackers, something else is starting to heal which will change her life forever…
3. The Song Matron
Cadence, the extraordinarily-powerful Bard-based Song Mistress, is back! Joined by her friends, she embarks on a journey to – somehow – bring peace to Uniworld, all while avoiding attempts from her own faction to kill her.
Now knowing who brutally attacked her – if not his real-life persona – Cadence must get stronger, learn more about her abilities, and devise a strategy for him to confess to his involvement. To do that, however, she needs to survive long enough; which is going to be hard with the entirety of the Light faction out to get her.
With the only avenue for escape among their “enemies”, Cadence and her friends travel to the Dark faction, where she learns much-needed information regarding one of her oldest and most important quests. From that information stems an expedition into the unknown, which will bring her closer to her goal…and her destiny. Is Cadence strong enough to embrace her fate and bring justice to her attackers?
