Understanding the Universe via the Inverse Square Law by Gerald W. Scanlon
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 1.6 MB
Overview: Light waves, sound waves, and gravity obey the inverse square law. The inverse square law states that a specified physical quantity or intensity is inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the source of that physical quantity. Any point source which spreads its influence equally in all directions without a limit to its range will obey the inverse square law. This comes from strictly geometrical considerations.
In this book, the author presents an original geometrical framework derived from figures used to illustrate the inverse square law. Waves with different frequencies and amplitudes, the colors of the rainbow, and notes on the piano are all incorporated into the design of the geometrical framework. Furthermore, mathematical calculations and graphic designs also demonstrate the presence of gravity on the geometrical framework.
