He glared at me defiantly. His eyes matched my own, maybe a slight shade darker, shining with malice. “Prince Tristan, how nice of you to join me. I would have shared, if only you had asked. There’s no need to be so pushy.” He sneered.
I rapped his head into the wooden floor, resisting the urge to rip the heart from his gangly chest. If I had arrived a second later, Lena would be dead. That knowledge coiled up inside of me like a hungry predator, ready to pounce.
“She is mine,” I growled. “I should end your miserable existence for this offense.”
“Oh, come now.” An ugly grin spread over his features. “Don’t tell me you’ve formed an attachment to this… “human”. He pronounced the last word with disdain. “They are filthy creatures, only good for food. Of course, I can understand how you came to be so enamored with her. I was quite taken in myself. Her blood is as sweet as honey suckle, and she’s so easily led. The way she responded when I touched her!”
That was more than I could handle. The predator lunged up inside of me. I swooped down, swiftly sinking my fangs into his unprotected neck.
