The history of the Nibelungen, told by Jarry and Djief in The Twilight of the Gods, is one of the myths the authors of fantasy, Tolkien first, are constantly to be guided in their creations. After three volumes published in the Sun Celtic collectionthe authors of the mother series entrust their characters in the care of Istin and Lemercier for Volume 0, which returns to the origins of the ring, of the one who has forged, Alberic and his curse.

Like most legendary stories, The Curse of the Ring is largely based on a text by voice. And if sometimes a bit too bombastic tone night at times to the interest in the fate of Alberic, it is none the less pleasant to discover. It must be said Istin, capable of the best and the worst, here avoids the flaws that had such sealed a series like The Lord Shadow, to deliver a job well made: between compulsory figure and more personal creation, the writer achieves a good balance without ever weight references is too much to bear. Despite some downtime, the adventures of the many characters are linked together rather well and, even without knowing the universe of the Nibelungs, the reader should smoothly follow the authors in their story, if he is sensitive to the tales and legends.

After an inconclusive experiment Arcana Aliyah, Gwendal Lemercier operates with this new album a comeback. Even if he does not return to direct colors layout that was incomparable charm of his previous work in the line of Guillaume Sorel, it splits here a benefit that should escape any significant criticism. The signed colorization Joel Mouclier punctuates a graphic quality work, hoping that the path of the one who had made a first appearance very noticed in Tales of Ankou is finally drawn. The few pages of illustrations and sketches crept in late album seem to tip the scales in that direction. Too classic to seduce an audience other than the diehard fans of Celtic legends, this volume fills 0 Yet its entertainment mission. However, it appeared the opportunity to present again questioned the overproduction currently facing the world of comics. When a series called Twilight of the Gods, whose second book is called Siegfried, appears at the same time a series called Siegfried, the third book to be published will be called Twilight of the Gods, admit that there has much to be perplexed. Especially as the graphics mastery shown by Alex Alice on her own series has something to overshadow the much more "wise" Production discussed here … — by D. Wesel. 08/09/2009.
