Transmutown Novella: Mercury series by Sam Saylett (#1-2)
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 1.1 MB
Overview: Writing and crafting stories have been part of Sam’s life since grade school, with an endless number of characters living in her head. She’s excited to see some of these characters on the page, available to others, and there are many more on the horizon. Creating stories that feature aromantic and asexual characters began about five years ago, while Sam was understanding her own orientations, and she’s proud to see them coming alive alongside many others in a burgeoning collection of aro/ace fiction. When not writing and editing, Sam is either at her day job in the I.T. world, playing Dungeons & Dragons, or chilling with her three cats.

Beyond the Paladin Door (#1)
Welcome to Mercury, Missouri, where the town moves, the vampires don’t always lurk in the shadows, and Merry Moon has a problem.

Aro-Ace college grad Merry is fresh out of a job, an apartment, and any direction for her life. On a whim, she moves to the small town of Mercury to work at her estranged mother’s pawn shop. But her mother has a secret: Mercury isn’t a normal town.

It’s a Transmutown, a hub for magical activity and home to vampires, shifters, and paladins. In fact, Merry’s aloof workaholic of a mother is actually the town’s guardian paladin. Not that Merry believes any of this. Her car is still packed, and she’s prepared to drive back to reality.

But this is reality, and Merry isn’t leaving any time soon. After an attempted burglary by vampires goes south, Merry ends up trapped inside the pawn shop.

She’s in over her head.

And she isn’t the only one in danger.

Against the Broken Oath (#2)
Welcome to Mercury, Maine, where the town moves, the paladins aren’t always righteous, and Bird Braddock has a problem.

Asexual paladin Bird had a promising apprenticeship to the powerful Gwyn Acosta yesterday. Not anymore. In one afternoon, vampires overpowered him, outed him as an oathbreaker, and pushed him into losing all control. His meager reputation in Mercury is now in shambles, and Gwyn has dropped him. So Bird has resolved to leave town, train his powers, and return only when he can fulfill his paladin oath.

But life has different plans.

When Mercury, a Transmutown, teleports from Missouri to Maine, a figure appears from Bird’s past with a demand. They want him to return to the life he led before he broke his oath. Bird refuses, and doing so throws caracal-shifter Roo and new arrival Merry into the path of destruction.

Bird has to fix the problem, before anyone learns the truth about the man he used to be.

He won’t fail again. He can’t. If he does, he doesn’t know what he’ll break this time.
