Tom Corbett, Space Cadet series by Carey Rockwell (#1-8 BOX SET)
Requirements: EPUB Reader | 10.7 MB
Overview: The name Carey Rockwell was a pseudonym used by Grosset & Dunlap. It is unknown who wrote the books, or even if there was only one writer. It is interesting to note, however, that while much of the content was original, a number of scenes and plot points were taken from the television series of the same name.

The stories followed the adventures of Tom Corbett, Astro, and Roger Manning, cadets at the Space Academy as they train to become members of the elite Solar Guard. The action takes place at the Academy in classrooms and bunkrooms, aboard their training ship the rocket cruiser Polaris, and on alien worlds, both within our solar system and in orbit around nearby stars.
Genre: Science Fiction

Stand by for Mars! (#1)
When we hear a work has been written by person or persons unknown under a house pseudonym, was part of a series that ran simultaneously in the newspaper comics, on TV, on radio, and in cheesy-looking off-size paperback books, we feel safe we can assume that the content will be not just forgettable, but something we’ll be better off forgetting. But work made for hire isn’t "always" so awful, actually, or it didn’t used to be, anyway. And in the case of the book you hold in your hands — first in the "Tom Corbett" series by "Carey Rockwell" (whoever he was in real life) — this book is really pretty damned neat. It’s the tale of three young men who join the Solar Guard to serve as Space Cadets (yes, really That’s what the book calls them). It tells of the challenges that face them, and the way they triumph over adversity. Neat stuff Read it now

Danger in Deep Space (#2)
The book you hold in your hands — second in the "Tom Corbett" series by "Carey Rockwell" — is something special. Oh, it was a work made for hire, and after it had its day, even the author (whoever he was in real life) forgot he’d done it. But believe it or not, this book is really pretty neat. It’s the tale of three young space cadets of the Solar Guard: it starts with space maneuvers and a mock attack, and runs through complications on places like Venus and Tara. Cool stuff! Read it now!

On The Trail Of The Space Pirates: A Tom Corbett Space Cadet Adventure (#3)
Carey Rockwell is the pseudonym used for the author of the Tom Corbet Space Cadet series of books written for young boys. This 1950’s series included books, comic strips, coloring books and television shows. The Tom Corbett space series consists of eight books, which may have been based on the novel Space Cadet by Robert Heinlein. The series follows the adventures of Tom and his friend Roger as they train to be members of the Solar Guard. The stories center around the academy, the bunkroom and their training ship Polaris. Their adventures take them to alien worlds in our solar system and beyond.

The Space Pioneers (#4)
This, the fourth book in the "Tom Corbett" series by "Carey Rockwell" (whoever he was in real life) — is, like all of the "Tom Corbett" books, something special. It’s another tale of the three young men who serve in the Solar Guard as Space Cadets. The Solar Guard is establishing its first colony on a star far away in space, and of course, our heroes are in on the mission. But somehow a villain named Paul Vidac has wormed his way into the Cadets’ assignment — replacing Capt. Strong as Lt. Governor. The man means nothing but evil, and if the cadets don’t catch him at it, it’ll be the end of them for certain. . . .

The Revolt on Venus (#5)
This is a pre-1923 historical reproduction that was curated for quality. Quality assurance was conducted on each of these books in an attempt to remove books with imperfections introduced by the digitization process. Though we have made best efforts – the books may have occasional errors that do not impede the reading experience. We believe this work is culturally important and have elected to bring the book back into print as part of our continuing commitment to the preservation of printed works worldwide.

Treachery in Outer Space (#6)
This, the sixth book in the "Tom Corbett" series by "Carey Rockwell" (whoever he was in real life) — is, like all of the "Tom Corbett" books, something special. It’s another tale of the three young men who serve in the Solar Guard as Space Cadets. The Titan crystal freight contracts are up for bid, and the powers that be have decided to put the contracts out competitively to the folks who can deliver fastest — and of course there’s fishy business underway. Not only are folks attempting to cheat the competition, but darker business is about to begin. . . !

Sabotage in Space (#7)
This, the seventh and final book in the "Tom Corbett" series by "Carey Rockwell" (whoever he was in real life) — is, like all of the "Tom Corbett" books, something special. It’s another tale of the three young men who serve in the Solar Guard as Space Cadets. It starts with cadet Roger, urm, nicking a study spool for use in a competitive exam — but that leads all of our cadets into a fight, and when they’re caught at that, a trial. In the midst of the trial they get assigned to duty on a Top Secret Projectile Project, and things go wrong there in ways at once related and impossible to connect. Someone is causing real menace to roost in the cadets’ lives, and the worst is still ahead . . .

The Robot Rocket (#8)
All good things must come to an end, and this eighth volume in the Space Cadet series was the final one. Tom and Astro are separated from Roger for much of this book, but one has to believe that the trio of Polaris cadets were re-united for many more fine and thrilling adventures, that they went on to graduate from the Space Academy with the highest honors, and that side-by-side they lived long and happy lives keeping the spaceways safe as members of The Solar Guard. As Greg Kihn observed, they don’t write ’em like that anymore
