Three Novels by Greg Curtis

Overview: Greg Curtis was born in New Zealand, land of the long white cloud and small flightless birds, in the city of Wellington, renown for its high winds and the almost magical ability of rain and sleet to be lifted off the street and blasted into one’s face. After eighteen years of suffering the cold and wet, he was finally blown away in a particularly bad storm to settle far away as a student, for more years then most would ever admit to, and then more latterly, an overqualified and underpaid worker in the health sector, (aren’t we all).
He has lived in the city of Rotorua, one of the very few places in the world where people have actually chosen to reside beside active geysers and breath air that reeks of sulphur, for the past fifteen years, working by day for his daily bread, and toiling away by night on his books. When not engaged in his great passions of reading and writing science fiction…
Genre: Sci-Fi/Fantasy
1. The Nephilim
We’re nephilim. We’re screwed.
Words to live by for Special Agent Garrick Hamilton. Not that life as a nephilim was terrible. But it was hard. The trouble began with the Choir who had no understanding and even less tolerance of their half blood offspring, but plenty of rules for them to follow. Then there was the need to keep their secret from the normals, which meant hiding their gifts. And of course there was always the pain of coming from broken homes and broken parents.
Still he’d made a life for himself. He used his gift to help him hunt down serial killers. He had a house and a career. He had a future.
Then one day the Choir came to him with a teenage girl to escort to the Westlord Academy. A nephilim connected to the world’s most notorious bank robber. And from that moment on his life turned to hell. The kid was a nightmare. The Choir were unhappy with him. And people were trying to kill him.
But then he was a nephilim. He had always been screwed.
2. Thief
So what happens when the world’s most successful thief meets an angel? What happens when that angel wants to recruit the thief for a rescue mission into the very depths of Hell itself? Why would an angel even imagine that a thief could steal tortured souls from the clutches of the fallen? Least of all a thief that doesn’t believe in God.
No money, terrible danger, the likelihood of things going horribly wrong and costing him his life and maybe his soul as well, and with no way to refuse, one thing’s for certain, Mikel is going to have his work cut out for him as Sherial slowly turns his life upside down.
On the other hand it would be the crime of the millenium!
3. Pawn
Rufus Hennassy was an abused child who grew up to be a broken man. A modest man with modest dreams and a modest life. But at least it was a life.
Then came the crash. A nearly impossible car crash that should never have happened and that should have killed him, but which he walked away from almost unscathed. That was the first miracle. But it was barely the begining of the series of all but impossible events that began to turn his quiet well ordered life upside down.
Murderers and assassins lay around every corner, determined to catch him, find the location of the lost Rembrandt through him, and then kill him. And yet every time they caught him, fate stepped in in the most improbable of ways, and he escaped.
Then again what else could you expect when the ancient Greek gods were toying with you?
Of course the gods had their reasons for using him, and even as they toyed with him they knew that he would one day hold their own futures in his hands.
His destiny would take him from pawn to kingmaker, or breaker. But which path would he choose?
