Overview: The question isn’t whether or not Virgil Graves was ridiculously evil (he was); the question is how did his top investigator and daughter Tessa Graves not have a clue?
An even better question might be why did Tessa unquestioningly worship at the altar of her father, whom she never actually liked? It’s almost as if Virgil used compulsion magic on her… But that would be ridiculously evil, wouldn’t it? Imagine Tessa’s surprise when she takes her newly deceased father’s place as head of the family business, Graves, Graves, & Graves, preeminent investigators to the Hidden, and finds all of Virgil’s dirty little secrets bubbling to the surface and with them the terrible truth that for most of her life her mind has not been her own. The only thing that could possibly make things worse would be if Tessa’s newly retired aunt and plucky grandmother decided that she desperately needed them to be her new sidekicks… and roommates… and life coaches… It’s almost enough to make her miss Virgil. Then again, Virgil’s dirty deeds are about to bring the whole House of Graves crashing down at the hands, or claws, of the Cadwel Wolves, a ruthless family of shifter elites (and one of Virgil’s top clients.)
Let’s just hope three generations of Graves (and maybe one troll) are enough to undo what Virgil Graves has done; assuming it’s not already too late…
