In 2117 a Rift starship had discovered that humans have invaded a planet they consider theirs. The humans are judged extremely dangerous and must be eliminated. It will take a while for them to return to reclaim their property.
LCDR Rick Cassidy and GSGT Molly Pickford have become very important to the New Hope Colony. By 2126 Major Gen. Robert Black is the senior officer at Ranger Command and is married to Kelly Cassidy. Kelly has trained Rick’s daughter, Ciara, and by age 12 she is an expert shot. When she turns 14, Ciara goes to the colony on the starship Asia. She makes friends among the crew and the Rangers competing against them in the ship’s VR trainer. Rick’s sisters are all going to the colony. LT Nicole O’Brien is a Colonial Ranger. Chloe O’Brien is also going, to run the family business at the colony. LT Bridget O’Brien is now in Colonial Security.
Major Naomi MacCaffrey is sent to join the logistics team at the colony on the Amundsen.
Three Rift transports with 30,000 Andoval mercenaries arrive at the colony. They plan to use the humans as food for their Andoval mercenaries. The Amundsen arrives in the system with 6,000 passengers and crew including 500 Rangers under Col. Colin Fox. Rick has a hot tub installed in his residence, a gift from a group of scientists he’d saved two years before. Girls from the new Hope Academy are selected for an internship tour of the Eastern settlements.
