Overview: In The Threads, we meet Eddie Fields, a man who has lost everything; his wife, job and now about to lose his home, the worst place he’s ever lived in. Eddie must find another way to quiet the cravings for drink he cannot afford to satisfy and turns to mediation as his last resort. As Eddie meditates he feels his life force escape his mortal body and travel through a field of lit threads. The beauty of the threads captivates him. Eddie does in fact fall asleep while meditating and wakes to find he is no longer in his dilapidated apartment but in a better home, with a wife and a job and not a single craving for alcohol. Has he lost his mind or has he found a way through the threads to an alternative reality and a second chance?
There are rules which govern our existence and by violating those rules which keep us bound in the lives in which we were born, Eddie finds he has a dark force coming for him. As the darkness becomes ever more threatening Eddie soon realizes the only way to prevent a confrontation with this dark force is for him to follow the threads and run and hide. As afraid of the darkness as he is the the one thing he won’t consider is a return to the existence of himself as the loser. As he travels through the alternative realities of his life he finds his soul mate and learns he is only happy in those worlds in which he is reunited with her. Eddie fears the darkness chasing him if only because Eddie knows he has unlocked a power that mortal minds were never supposed to have. Eddie continues to search for safety and happiness jumping from universe to universe following the threads, hiding from the consequences he fears, while giving us glimpses of the possible realities our world could have had should one piece of history been changed. One last jump and Eddie finally believes he has found his place in the universe of worlds. Happy as he never knew he could be he is as determined to stay in this reality as the darkness is to send him back.
Unfortunately, one person can disrupt the entire fabric of life for all people in all worlds simultaneously. Eddie must weigh the consequences which are much more dire than he could have ever imagined against his need to remain with his one true love. Can Eddie save the very fabric of life from unraveling and still remain with his soul mate?
