Requirements: PDF Reader, 4,4 MB
Overview: These lecture notes contain sufficient material for courses in Thermodynamics, and are intended for the use by undergraduate students in geography and meteorology of the Military Technologies study program. Some parts of this text can also be used by graduate students in mechanical engineering.
The traditional phenomenological approach to thermodynamics is used through the text and makes learningthe subject matter much easier. This text provides an overview of the fundamental laws and concepts in thermodynamics of systems, thermodynamics of phase changes and moist air, two-phase cycles analysis, chemical kinetics, and heat and mass transfer. If there is not enough space for detailed explanations, the bibliographical references to specialized sources are included.
Tables of thermodynamic properties are given in the Appendix to this text, to enable
students to obtain necessary data for exercises and individual work.
Students are expected to have basic knowledge in mathematics and physics from previous courses.
The illustrative problems are often followed by explanation notes, practical remarks, and examples. Notes and examples are printed in smaller size fonts.
Important passages are indicated by italics and fundamental terms by using italic bold
characters. Italic characters are also used for variables within text. Text in italics is also used in pictures and tables captions.
