The Chosen One (Theral Chronicles #1)
Jan’n Karol is theráli, a nocturnal species with feline eyes, white hair, and a host of hyperactive senses. These attributes not only make her unique, but also contribute to her success as an agent in the AIS, Alliance Intelligence Services.
However, despite her professional successes, her private life sucks. For a theráli female there can only be one. Only one male holds the genetic key to unlock her passions, or as her mother put it—the one chosen by the gods just for her.
This presents a problem. Jan’n lives a billion light years from the homeworld. Only a handful of theráli males are available and not one of them ‘ignites her afterburners’, so to speak, let alone unlocks her passions.
To make matters worse, after injecting herself with information, naming all the Seris drug cartel’s agents, Jan’n’s partner turns on her. Under orders from the leader of the cartel, he drugs and sells her to a slave trader.
Meanwhile, Kayvaun D’Los, a young Azul businessman with the face of an angel and a body gorgeous enough to have been carved from marble, is on his first trip for the family business when he begins to suffer mating pains.
“It’s simply nature’s way of telling you it’s time to take a mate,” his mother tells him. “When you and your mate are together for the first time, your bodies will change until you literally become two halves of a whole. Basically, a couple becomes one entity sharing two bodies."
Now, a billion miles from home and his body tearing itself apart, Kayvaun decides to alleviate the pains, and circumvent the ‘uniting’ by purchasing a beautiful, unconscious female slave with feline eyes and white hair. Only after it’s too late, does he realize he’s just mated with the kidnapped agent.
“You can call it whatever you want,” Jan’n snaps, “but rape is rape.”
As an angry Jan’n prepares to fly back to agency headquarters with her information, and Kayvaun gets ready to continue his journey, they both make upsetting discoveries. Despite being of different species, the transformations are beginning to take place. While his brain chemistry is changing to match Jan’n’s, her body goes into overdrive every time he gets close.
Now, while fighting off Seris assassins and an ex-partner bent on murder, Jan’n and Kayvaun try to deal with their bodies’ hunger for each other and the emotional gulf created by the circumstances that brought them together.
Came A Stranger (Theral Chronicles #2)
Deputy Dex Baxter is a football legend in Piedmont County, Colorado. He’s the native son who left home and made it big, first as a college All-American and later in the NFL. When the doctors diagnose his wife with cancer, he walked away from the game and moved back to his hometown with his infant daughter. Now, four years later, he’s trying to balance being a single parent with serving as a deputy sheriff. Despite the delicate balancing act and the demand on his time, Dex believes his life is finally making a turn for the better, that is, until the Sheriff gives him a special case.
For the prior two years, Piedmont authorities have been ignoring the reported disappearance of migrant workers, farm laborers and itinerant cowboys. Since tales of strange lights, invisible men, and alien creatures accompany these reports, most of the local citizens chalk the stories up to riffraff, runaway husbands, drunken cowboys, and old people with active imaginations. However, when the wife of a prominent citizen vanishes under similar circumstances, the Sheriff, now facing a tough election, asks Dex to take a few days and look into the disappearances.
In his search for the truth, Dex runs up against an impenetrable wall of lies, deliberate misdirection, and attempts on his life. However, he gains an important ally when FBI Special Agent Ren’n Kendal comes to Rex’s aid during an attempted murder. She informs him the agency suspects the disappearances are connected to a cartel involved in the smuggling of drugs and illegal workers as well as trafficking in sex slaves.
After agreeing to pool their resources, the two continue peeling away the layers of deceit and cover-up. Before they are finished, the officers expose a massive conspiracy involving local government officials as well as one of the wealthiest men in the state. The case gets even more complicated when Dex finds himself inextricably drawn to the beautiful FBI agent despite the mounting evidence she is not who she claims to be. To make matters worse, the fantastic stories of mind control, alien creatures, and men who can disappear in a flash of lightning, might not be stories at all.
