Dave Smith is having a bad day, week, month, maybe even year. Freshly unemployed, facing eviction and now he’s been transported to a fantasy world. A wish come true for many a geek, if only he hadn’t died less than a day after he arrived.Now trapped in this fantasy realm’s version of purgatory, he faces the prospect of trying to navigate a new existence as a dungeon. That wouldn’t be so bad, except ending dungeons seems to be the path out for many of the other denizens of these Proving Grounds.To make matters worse the deities of this place have taken a special interest in complicating his stay, for their own, as yet unstated reasons.On the upside he has a new buff and studly avatar and any fantasy ladies who happen to fall in his dungeon are his to keep, to strengthen his dungeon obviously.Downside, most of the raiders in his region are bearded dudes or ugly and orc like. What’s a guy whose life experiences include gaming and working a series of crummy customer service jobs to do.Answer. Work the system, be as obnoxiously obstinate as he can be and bend every rule like it’s made of rubber.Oh and whine, just a little bit. Daxas has survived his first few weeks as a Dungeon. He has successfully discovered several exploits in the system and has been thriving. He is advancing to the second rank, fought off an invasion of orcs and goblins and most importantly now has a lovely wood elf companion named Jessamyn. However, success brings new challenges, and new more powerful challengers. It’s time for the Wolf King to expand his dungeon, cut down any who dare oppose him and add a few more willing allies to his defences.Meanwhile, the Divine Lord’s are plotting in the background, trying to engineer his downfall. Can he survive? Probably, he is pretty awesome after all, and he plans to have plenty of fun along the way.(The story contains Gamelit and elements like stats and levelling.)

Daxas has reached rank eight.He has conquered and subsumed a second dungeon increasing his power and pulled one over the Divine Lords in the process.However, he is aware this will bring new difficulties to his door and the Divine Lords are unlikely to take their humiliation well.He is going to need to continue his plans of expansion which now includes a second dungeon as well as an adventurer guild, the Dark Moon Rising, ready to answer his commands, well mostly ready.There is also the not so small matter of his unfinished business with Jen’Zadeer Shadestar. She remains just out of his grasp, but not for much longer.(The story contains Gamelit elements like stats and levelling.)

Daxas trials continue.He has defeated those with the temerity to face him and claimed the dark elf Dungeon Mistress Jen’Zadeer Shadestar for his own.His guild, the Dark Moon Rising, continues to flourish despite it’s figurehead Chief, Simeon Reedwhistle’s, reservations.However, Daxas’ teasing guide Alyssa has been incommunicado for some time. He will soon learn the reason why and the cycle of his victories being met with further roadblocks is set to continue.Daxas has had enough of the repetition. It’s time to break the cycle, force his true opponents from the shadows, and slice his claws across their throats.The end may not be nigh, yet, but it will be soon if the Wolf King has anything to say about it.(The story contains Gamelit elements like stats and levelling.)

Daxas has fought off the most dangerous threat to his dungeon to date.The cabal of other Dungeon Cores, beholden to the Divine Lords, sent one of their own, Gorvag, to destroy him with a host of subordinate dungeons.They failed and Daxas stands as the beneficiary of their failure. Those benefits include Gorvag’s daughter, Genya. A fierce orc warrior now dedicated to Daxas service. And through her he can exert control over her father, his enemy now reluctant ally.However, time grows short. The Wolf King’s Lair’s advancement has been meteoric, and the final endgame rapidly approaches.Before that there are a few things that need doing. The least of which is vengeance on those who dared to oppose the Wolf King.And there are others in the Proving Grounds, like the Silver Lady, Jezebel. She had her own plans which don’t align with Daxas’. Not to mention that the threat from without is undiminished. Timian, and others, are still gunning hard for Daxas. They want what he has, an abundance of soul energy, and the Wolf King must die for them to get their grubby little mitts on it.

Jezebel and the elf guilds have been defeated.
The elven Goddess now resides in the Wolf King’s Lair along with Daxas and the others.
However, her attempts to destroy Daxas’ dungeon and steal all the soul energy he had collected over time has not been without consequence.
The Divine Challenge: The final test that Daxas’ dungeon must undergo has almost arrived.
He has less time than expected and that means he is going to have to adapt to changing events if he wants to come out on top.
And coming out on top is the only real option. Anything else damns him and all those he cares about. It truly is win or bust.
But he is confident. Everything the Lords, both Divine and Infernal, have thrown at him has failed to stop him. Why should this challenge be any different?
This might be the most dangerous delve in all the years he has presided over the Wolf King’s Lair, but he’s determined it will end like all the others.
