Overview: A Heaven, beset by plague and promise of war. One angel hopes to save Heaven; another, to save her friend.
The angel Elysia’s world is shattered when her closest friend Mirelle vanishes, undoubtedly Chosen to rejoin the essence of the long-absent Creator. But soon after a chance encounter with the kind and enigmatic Alirion, she learns Mirelle was actually sent in haste to the distant city of Vigilis to battle a terrifying plague, once known as The Withering, that threatens to destroy Heaven.
Together, the two begin to search for the truth, each for their own reasons. But as they start to untangle Heaven’s long-hidden secrets, Elysia and Alirion soon begin to suspect the worst. The Angelic Council, the leaders to whom Heaven’s governance is trusted, may itself be on the path to war once again, and The Withering could prove to be a far more dangerous scar upon Heaven than either of them truly realize.
