Genre: Mystery/Thriller
1. No Refuge: Suspicion abounds following a shooting in a remote Welsh town…
Having little to report on other than the upcoming flower festival and rumours of a royal visit to her small town, Mid Wales journalist Stacey Logan suddenly has her hands full when a local man and his dog are shot dead.
Seeing as her boyfriend Ben James is a detective in the local force, Stacey gets a closer view of the action than most. Despite their proximity to an army firing range, an accidental death is quickly ruled out. But Stacey’s chances of a scoop are dashed when, following another shooting in the Llandovery area, important elements of the case are leaked to the national press.
With Stacey’s editor putting on the pressure, she decides to do a little more investigating of her own. But given the concerns about the royal visit, suspicions about a mole in the force, and with Scotland Yard now involved, she will have to tread carefully.
Will trying to find the identity of the shooter upset Stacey’s relationship with her boyfriend before the police make an arrest? Or when she believes they have the wrong man, will her sleuthing have a far more dangerous outcome?
2. The Consortium: You won’t be able to put this gripping mystery down!
One morning after an illegal rave in a Welsh valley, a hill farmer finds a young woman’s body. Reporter Stacey Logan has been investigating the party scene, and when it is established the girl died after taking drugs, she digs deeper.
This somewhat puts her on a collision course with her partner, DI Ben James, who is leading the investigation into the girl’s death.
DI James has his own problems. When a suspected drug trafficker connected to the case is found dead in his cell, all hell breaks loose.
Will the couple’s efforts align, or will dangerous criminals get off scot-free.
3. Not Forgotten: The search for a missing cop uncovers a dark side of Wales
When her partner DI Ben James disappears with no more than a short goodbye note, journalist Stacey Logan struggles to believe he could be so callous.
But DI Gareth Nettle of Dyfed Powys Police, keen to allocate resources to other cases, seems adamant that he has upped sticks and a search is a waste of time.
Drawing on her own investigative skills, Stacey begins by looking for proof that her partner was abducted. Following sparse evidence and clues to his latest whereabouts, she stumbles on a serious case of what looks like a human trafficking operation taking place right in the heart of Wales.
Is Ben’s disappearance related to it? Is he in danger, or part of the scheme?
When the police relent and look into the case, more gruesome facts are uncovered linking Ben to a dangerous group. It will take all of Stacey’s cool and cunning to trace the connection and find him, dead or alive.
4. Right of Sanctuary: When strong minded cop DC Heidi Holtz finds that her sister is living with a strange cult called The Church of New Eden, she wants her back.
But the boundary lines of consent and coercion are difficult to gauge and her colleagues in the Dyfed-Powys police will do nothing to help.
She’ll need proof that her sister is in danger and has been taken advantage of by the secretive sect. Yet the more she investigates, the more worried she becomes.
Playing by the book was never Holtz’s forte, and in no time she riles up a new boss. Has the detective herself lost the ability to distinguish right from wrong?
5. Coddling Molly: Found by the River Usk the next morning, nobody local knows who the victim is. DI Ben James and DS Erica Bevan find nothing nationwide either. So young, how could anyone not have reported her missing?
As soon as drugs enter the picture, it would be easy for the police to conclude she was just another tearaway who has taken the wrong path into drugs and crime.
But when ex-detective Heidi Holtz sees first hand and close to home how determined and ruthless dealers will use youngsters for their county lines operations, the case gets personal.
6. Gone To The Dogs: Trouble visits a small Welsh town as rivalries reach fever pitch.
Sleuthing reporter Stacey Logan can’t help bumping into her boyfriend DCI Ben James in her professional life from time to time.
But in her latest venture she ends up entangled in one of his ongoing murder inquiries.
She is looking into the disappearance of a teenager, the son of the local member of parliament. He is investigating a suspicious death on a bleak, isolated hill.
Are the murder and kidnap cases linked? Even if they aren’t, Stacey could be in danger. If the killer gets the slightest whiff of anyone getting close, they’ll let the dogs loose.
And Stacey has enough to deal with. The serious crimes seem to have stoked up every simmering local resentment there is, and rivalries are coming to the fore.
Will it all spell ruin for the small community?
7. Murder Spike: An audacious murder and a strange crime spree leave local police clutching at straws
Journalist Stacey Logan lands a scoop when, on returning home, she comes across the dead body of a man on top of a statue in the town square.
After taking a few photos for her paper, she calls her policeman husband Ben James who soon arrives with backup.
Once the slim possibility of natural causes has been ruled out, the force are faced with the question of who had it in for the victim.
As they make little headway, Stacey begins some investigating of her own. But before long another body is found in not dissimilar circumstances.
Does the small Welsh town have a serial killer on its hands? And if so what has got their goat?
