Overview: War of the Framoids begins with a ‘Beginning’ chapter that is interesting and full of unique aspects of the Super-Intelligent Framoid; its arising and elaboration, the engendering of the Ren (telepath) civilization, the Star faring journeys, and the arrival of the Star Seed on Serath, the sister planet of Conrak. The Framoid Soul self elaborates while the Ren telepaths create a unique culture. Soul is well aware that another Framoid has alighted on Conrak, but there is, strangely, no communication.
The adventure begins with the four Serathan Ren aboard Charger finally realizing — calamity! They have been sent almost as ‘bait’ to scout out what is surely an anomaly, a planet teeming with life but unwilling to be contacted or observed. Contact begins with trauma and frightening realizations. A God-like intelligence has indeed created a nascent civilization. But the basis, the absolute reality, is warped and twisted. Selille and Valta and the others are brutally enslaved. Conrak is hell. All who citizens are brutalized and formed in violence and caste hatred, and subservient to a truly evil genius intelligence that seeks absolute power over all its minions, and has been preparing war against Serath from its arising. A mad and schizoid Framoid, Devatas, has given birth to itself in evil hate, and turned its captive population into a perfect en-fleshed killing machine.
The scene switches to Serath where three psi-mutes and a Ren come from a meeting with Soul, the protector Framoid of all the people. Leif and Rond and Findol are from the tiny minority of non-telepathic children of Serath, who’ve lived a half-empty life on the moon base Chandra. We learn how they have been chosen to lead the insane attempt to protect the Ren population from the coming onslaught. Soul sees far, and has a plan, however futile sounding. Along with the Ren, Thea, they have been learning the long forgotten arts of battle and self defence. The Cybots build huge transport ships and a few fighter craft. The conspirators learn strange forms of piloting and self-defence, while Leif and Thea fall in love. A truncated (de-meshed) Ren and a psi-mute, thrown together against all nature. Soul’s plan seems mad!

We learn of the ferocity of Conrak through the enslavement and many faceted torture of Selille. Her other crew members are destroyed, and she comes face to face with the evil Devetas, who boasts of the slaughter prepared for the absolutely pacific Ren, and their ‘impotent’ protector, Soul. We experience Conrak through her eyes, in all its depravity and furious debasement. Castes of killer warriors, castes of ruined telepaths warped into hideous opposites of the Ren.
Leif and Thea have a very special mission. They are to be ‘seeded’ through the exotic star travel process of Traxis, into the very heart of the enemy’s domain.
Monumental battle is engaged. Tremendous flights of transport are flung around Dhara while the evil Framoid destroys Soul and the skeletal remnant of defenders. Exciting battles under the most forlorn hopelessness, and a last flight right into the arms of the evil genius, Devatas.
Leif and Thea battle on Conrak. They brave the hell of Conrak to save Selille. Furious battles under the most ferocious and demonic conditions imaginable. While Rond and his fleet and two million Ren seem to face certain extinction, the final confrontation takes place between the slaves of Conrak, their degenerate Lord and the faint hope that Soul has seen deeper than seemingly possible.
Finally the Slaves are turned against each other, and at the very last instant, against Devatas, lord of Conrak. Thea and Leif have triumphed against all the forces of evil. Yet humankind, on both planets, must face the reality that both God and the Devil have perished, and they must save themselves without the power of the super intelligences that gave them birth.
War of the Framoids is truly galactic, truly mythic, and exciting.
