Overview: B J Beach was born in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire and educated at a County Secondary Modern school in Worcestershire, where she gained a fistful of ‘O’ levels and the County Cup for English.
She now lives near the north coast of West Cornwall. Her large mobile home, with distant views of St.Ives Bay,is partly enclosed by a semi-wild garden which is regularly visited by a variety of wildlife including a badger, foxes, squirrels and a multitude of birds.
She has been writing since childhood, and was a regular contributor to her school magazine, but only settled to writing seriously when she retired after being widowed some years ago. Much of her writing is in the epic fantasy genre, although she frequently ventures into horror and the supernatural, with some poetry thrown in for good measure.
Her travels have taken her to many interesting places, mainly in North Africa and the Himalayas. She has also engaged in a number of occupations as widely ranging as military service to long distance lorry driving to retailing, including ten years as joint proprietor with her husband of a busy general stores and off-licence.
The impressions and life experiences gained have, she feels, helped her to add colour and authenticity to her writing.

Mage Prime (The Trouble with Magic Book 2)
Karryl’s face was thunderous. “Killers, yes. Natural born? No. Nothing could be further from the truth. When you and your men have had time to recover and made your reports, come to our apartments and I’ll show you what little information we have on these vile creatures.”
They stood a while in silent communion, gazing with revulsion at the aberrant and lifeless forms. An acidic greenish-yellow blood oozed from the diabolically hideous heads, and down the shafts of the weapons on which they were impaled. Severely shaken, but otherwise none the worse for their terrifying encounter, the two remaining soldiers hauled themselves to their feet and came to stand beside their sergeant.
Trying desperately to avoid looking at the loathsome corpses, one of the men gestured in their general direction. “Shall we get these cleared away, Sarge?”
Following on from his adventures in ‘The Wilder’ it is now certain that Karryl is the ‘Mage-Prime’, but so what – as his powers grow, so too do the problems that he faces, and even with the intervention of higher beings, will he be ready in time?
Karryl, has quite a lot keeping him busy. Still learning how to control and master magic. Having to fight grelfons, monsters that haven’t been seen in a thousand years, and dealing with a mysterious sickness that affects only children. Last but not least, the knowledge that someone he used to know is being trained in evil magic, with the purpose of destroying him and everything that he loves. Time seems to be running out for the Mage Prime.

War of Power (The Trouble with Magic Book 3)
“The rattle of sleet lashing against his study window was doing nothing to improve Karryl’s mood. He had returned to the palace apartment after the winter holiday, keen to start work on solving the mystery of how Keril’s book and the medallion interacted. Now, after two days of fruitless trial and error, he sat gazing dejectedly at the pages of small close writing, wondering why something which reason told him would be so simple, was proving so intractable.
Symon looked up at him, grey eyes twinkling. ‘I gather from your expression that it has so far eluded you.’”
So many questions and so few answers…
Will Karryl, the Mage Prime be ready for his part in the final battle?
With enemies like Ghian and his Grelfi flying the deadly and dark grelfons and attacks from Assassin-Wraiths, will he and Symon indeed survive long enough to witness the incredible events that have been foretold for when the three stars align?

A Minstrel’s Quest (The Trouble with Magic Book 4)
The fourth book in the ‘Trouble With Magic’ introduces a new ‘hero’ the Minstrel Corlin (although a few ‘old friends’ may appear along the way). It can be read in order – you have read the previous three stories, haven’t you? Or it can be read as a standalone tale of magic and adventure.
Easy in the saddle, the corporal in front reined in his mount, looked down at Corlin and then looked round at his troopers. “I think we’ve found ourselves a vagrant!”
Corlin struggled to his feet, gingerly prodded the back of his head and frowned. The lump he found there felt as though it might hatch at any minute.
Swaying briefly he adjusted his balance on the uneven ground. “No sir; my name is Corlin. “I’m a travelling minstrel.”
The corporal exchanged glances with his two grinning troopers, and gave him a disbelieving smirk. “Well Master whatever your name is, I see no pipe or gimalin. Invisible, is it?”
Not overly impressed by the corporal’s attempts at humour, Corlin scowled. “I was set upon by footpads. They took my horse, my gimalin and my purse.”
