The alternative to leaving is to become one of them – a Gyden – which stands in total opposition to everything Conn has fought for.
With only the one real choice on offer and only a moment to choose, Conn decides to return. He also takes Halla with him because her life is irrevocably bound to his. They soon discover that what was an impossible decision quickly becomes really complicated when Asherah suddenly appears on earth and discloses that his presence there could fundamentally damage the delicate balance of that dimension, and now wants him to leave, again. Assuring him that his immortality is no longer an issue, she offers to send them “home”. They agree, but soon find that “home” is not where Asherah, mother and most powerful of all the Gyden, actually sends them, and the purpose of her actions, if there are any, are not easy to uncover. She is also, surprisingly, not around to ask.
NOTE: This is the 126,000 word volume 5 of The Cesare series; the first of two in the sequel. A 54,000 sneak peek was released as a Part II in the Gyden series. There are significant changes between the sneak peek and this book, so be warned. Also, it is self-published, so there might be an error or two. Sorry.
