Maddie is really not the prude her older-than-her husband repeatedly claims her to be. Especially when she does nothing but her best for the man she loves. Breaking point reached, she takes matters into her own hands. Choosing to show her annoyance by kissing his best friend and thus intending to demonstrate she isn’t anywhere near so frigid as Harrison likes to claim. Things don’t quite go to plan though. That kiss. The way she feels as her husband’s best friend’s arms slide around her waist and drag her in. She only meant to prove a point. What she does, is set in motion a chain of events that finally forces the reveal of Harrison’s deepest, darkest secret. Namely, that he and his first wife were active in the lifestyle. And that leaves her with twenty-four hours to decide if this potential new situation is for her. No limits. No explanations. She can do whatever she wants and there will be no repercussions. It will be an opportunity that’s impossible to resist after that kiss.

How did this even happen? It’s actually a job to know. One minute everything was hunky dory and the next there’s so much going on that it’s a job to figure out who is in a relationship with who. Two marriages are in tatters. Yet not seeing that as a warning, another couple is suddenly intrigued by what’s going on and wants to try this out for themselves.
Maybe they really shouldn’t. Maybe they should run a mile. Because it’s a mess. The whole lot of it. But then nobody claimed it would be the answer to their existing woes. Pleasure. The kind that curls toes and steals your breath. That is where this was supposed to take them. And didn’t it? At first. Before heads were turned and past neglect became all too obvious.
And with two marriages ripped apart, then comes the regret. But haven’t they only themselves to blame? But then it would be easy to suggest they should have thought this through. Heeded the obvious warnings. They were there and plain to see. Couples not communicating. Boundaries not being set. Although probably it wouldn’t have made any difference anyway, but that doesn’t necessarily mean this is the end. If they are meant to find their way through the mess of this and still be together at the end of it, then perhaps it really didn’t matter how much temptation was thrown their way. True love always wins. Or at least that’s what we hope for.

If Anna had put this much effort into looking good for him, maybe it wouldn’t have come to this?
Todd has misgivings about her agreed date with another man, but he’s too stubborn to speak up when it becomes clear his gorgeous wife is more excited by the prospect of escaping the monotony of their marriage than a kid is by Christmas. That’s why he stands back and lets her go. And perhaps it’s why he is isn’t thinking straight when the wife of an old friend calls around while Anna is out?
He’s angry. And confused. And Grace is just there. Pretty. Available. Willing to just go with it there and then. It gets out of hand between the two of them, fast, but it isn’t like he’s cheating on his wife. Not technically. Just like she isn’t being unfaithful when one date leads to a second without discussing it with him first?
In the end, it all comes down to communication. Openness. Honesty. Yeah, perhaps they’ve both lessons to learn on that front. Neither is perfect. Nowhere near. The real issue then, is whether their marriage can survive the mess that they manage to make of it all. Especially when Todd develops an unexpected interest in what happens between his wife and her new beau. In his defence, he wants this to become something that they do together. And what better way than to be allowed to watch?
