Overview: I was born in Portugal, but have lived most of my life in Scotland. A degree in mathematics barely distracted me from world-building projects; a passion that led into computer games that explored 3D, vector graphic worlds when sprites were the mainstream; this was back in the 80s—in computer game terms an aeon ago. Other sorts of science fiction games occupied me for a while and, eventually, for more than ten years, I worked on The Stone Dance of the Chameleon. I have been busy since with a range of projects: graphic novels, more fantasy and sci-fi work, and a historical novel that I have set aside for now. Currently, I am attempting to master self-publishing and am releasing the Second Edition of my Stone Dance books.

1. The Masters
A black ship defies winter gales, bringing to young Carnelian’s remote island of exile three masked Lords of the Chosen—a cruel ruling caste. These Masters beg his father to return with them to oversee the election of a new God Emperor. To repair their ship, they pillage and destroy Carnelian’s home—the only world he’s ever known—condemning his people to starve. He and his father embark with the visitors on a long and perilous journey—against deadly opposition—to Osrakum, the heart and wonder of the world and seat of absolute power.
2. The Chosen
In the hidden crater of Osrakum, Carnelian finds a way through wonders and terror to love. But amidst the glittering and predatory glory of a Chosen election, as the Great, the Wise and the dowager Empress struggle for dominance, treachery will have its victims.
3. The Standing Dead
Plainsmen barbarians rescue Carnelian and Osidian from abject slavery and escape with them to the Earthsky. There, among the Ochre tribe, Carnelian hopes for a new and simpler life, beyond the knowledge of the Masters, but Osidian must reclaim what is his and burns with a lust for revenge that only blood and destruction can quench.

4. The Darkness Under The Trees
Seeking a treasure to fund his rebellion against the Masters, Osidian follows a Marula priest to initiation on the Isle of Flies. As Osidian succumbs to the terror of the Darkness-under-the-trees, Carnelian struggles to contain the growing chaos as events edge towards disaster.
5. Dragon Fire
Desperate to save those he loves from fire and ruin, Carnelian joins Osidian’s rebellion against the Masters. But can they overcome Aurum’s dragons and their fire and so find a way to return to the Guarded Land and Osrakum?
6. The Mirror Breaks
Carnelian and Osidian march against the Masters, overturning the power balance of centuries. They must confront the insane God Emperor and his overwhelming power on the battlefield. Despite Osidian’s deranged faith in his dark god, with their paltry two legions of dragons and vast rabble of unarmed slaves, what chance do they have of even surviving?
7. The Third God
Caught in the jaws of the apocalypse that he set into motion, can Carnelian find a way to wrench the world back into balance? What if the only way to save those he loves is to sacrifice himself to his most bitter enemies? What if the price he must pay is his own life?
