The Sigilord Chronicles by Kevin Hoffman (Books #1~2)
Requirements: ePUB reader, 1 MB
Overview: My name is Kevin Hoffman. For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved reading and have loved writing ever since I got hold of my mother’s old (and ridiculously heavy!) typewriter. I made her spend more money on typing paper and ribbons than I did on Nintendo games. Since then, I’ve made a pretty good living writing computer software and I’ve written/co-written over a dozen books on various aspects of computer programming. Lots of people refer to me as an “alpha geek” and, until recently, I believed them.
The truth of the matter is that I’m a writer. Always have been, always will be. Now that I admit it publicly and have decided to buckle down and start working on the projects that have been eating at the inside of my brain like so many leeches, hopefully I’ll have something useful to say on this blog about writing fiction, the process of writing, and overcoming the inner demons all authors keep chained up within.
Genre: Fantasy
The Fifth Vertex (The Sigilord Chronicles #1)
Urus Noellor–a boy born deaf who is about to be publicly branded as a burden, incapable of being the warrior his people demand–stands upon a rooftop, poised to throw himself over the edge. His failed attempt at suicide unlocks within him a long-dormant form of magic thought to have died out thousands of years before, a power that may be the key to saving the world from an equally ancient enemy.
Urus and his companions–Goodwyn, the greatest warrior in Kest, and Cailix, a mysterious orphan–must find a way to stop a powerful group of sorcerers from destroying the five long-hidden vertices that ward the world against threats from beyond, while fighting off threats from within. They soon learn that the scope of the coming danger may be more dire than any of them could have imagined. As the battle for the vertices spreads to the neighboring realms, Goodwyn must face the realities of war and death; Cailix discovers a devastating truth that could change everything; and Urus discovers his uncanny gifts and courage as he peels away clues to his true identity. But even as Urus gains the power he has always craved, he experiences it all in profound, lonely silence.
The Blood Sigil (The Sigilord Chronicles Book 2)
Urus Noellor, a young, deaf man once branded as an exile for not living up to the expectations of the warrior society into which he was born, has defeated the Order of the Sanguine Crystal. Now a prisoner of the Council of Balance, he awaits the outcome of a trial that could mean life or death for crimes he didn’t even know he committed.
For the others left behind on the world of Emys, six months have passed. Cailix has grown attached to her new family on Aldsdowne, though the return of Anderis threatens to destroy her new foundations.
Goodwyn and Therren have traveled to the capital city of Niragan to seek aid in rebuilding Waldron in the aftermath of the battles that nearly destroyed the city.
All of them are about to be drawn into the rekindling of an ancient feud that threatens to unleash an enemy even more powerful than the blood mages.
