The Seventh Shaman Series by D.T. Read (1-2)
Requirements: epub, mobi, azw3 reader, 2 mb
Overview: According to her mother, Diann “DT” Read began writing as soon as she could pick up a pencil, though her first “stories” were mostly drawings of horses. By age 10 she’d appropriated her father’s old college typewriter and learned to type, with two fingers, because it was faster than pushing a pencil. At age 14, with the encouragement of a schoolteacher aunt, she entered the Utah League of Writers Contest for Young Writers and won 1st place in the Junior High Division. She started her first novel, a fantasy based on the Arthurian legends, in high school, but got sidetracked into science fiction in college and never finished that book.
Genre: Sci-Fi/Fantasy
1. Running from the Gods – No matter how far he runs, he can’t run far enough.
Blamed for the accidental deaths of two family members, Akuleh—Ku to his friends—flees his shamanic society to fight in an interstellar war. An excellent bush pilot, he gets accepted for flight training, even though he’s underage—a quality that makes him the target of abuse from many of his peers.
But when Machitew, death demon of his people’s ancient tales, begins stalking Ku for his own bone-chilling purposes, bad things start happening to the people around him… making it impossible for him to concentrate on both his studies and his flying.
Enemies abound, both within the training squadron and in the black of space, and it quickly becomes apparent that not only is Ku’s nation losing the war, but Ku is also losing his personal battle with Machitew.
Ku will have to rely on his neglected “chanter” background—something he has been derided for in the past—as well as his skillful piloting, if he’s going to save his homeworld… and his soul.
2. Mountains of the Gods – More enemies than he can handle…
Akuleh—Ku to his friends—has completed primary flight school and has reached his operational squadron, but a terrifying foe awaits. The Supremacy, an unbeatable enemy who kills its prisoners in horrifying ways, continues to advance across the galaxy, capturing one ally world after another and the resistance seems unable to stop them.
Worse, though, is the enemy who wants his soul. Machitew, death demon of his people’s ancient tales, continues to wrestle for control of Ku’s destiny, tormenting him with prescient glimpses of losing his friends and fellow pilots in combat—people Ku has no way to save.
But when he gets shot down behind enemy lines, Ku has an encounter that will not only alter his role in the war but change the course of his life.
