Overview: I love fantasy. I’ve always loved fantasy, ever since I was a wee little squirt. I started with Men of Iron for a book report in grade school, and soon turned to things like Pawn of Prophecy and The Wheel of Time–not necessarily back-to-back. These days I find myself drawn more to the Grimdark category, though I don’t think you could consider my stuff Grimdark. What is it that I think makes a good book, then?

#1 – Child of the Flames
The Red Swords came with the sunrise and took everything Shawna Llewan held dear.
Her family massacred, her home destroyed, she escapes with nothing but her mother’s heirloom and the desire for vengeance. When she’s found by Dormael, a Warlock of the Conclave, she learns that her mother’s keepsake—the reason her family was killed—holds the power to unleash boundless destruction. Dormael and Shawna must flee for their lives before a vengeful enemy and guard against the deadly secret it seeks to unearth.

#3 – The Old Man of the Temple

Fugitives from the Conclave, Dormael and his friends flee with the armlet in their possession. Hounded by their former allies, they undertake a dangerous trek to an ancient ruin—a place where the only things older than the stones are the secrets buried beneath them. Pain and darkness wait in the halls of the dead, but something worse may be closing in from behind.
With evil stirring, the fate of the world hangs in the balance. Will Dormael and his friends uncover the mystery of the artifact, or be destroyed by those who wish its power for themselves? For Dormael, D’Jenn, and Shawna, failure could mean the destruction of everything they know. The war is just beginning, and the gods will weigh the price in blood.
#4 – The City Under the Mountain
In the savage north, an ancient relic awakens.
Fugitives from the Conclave, Dormael and his friends must seek the next piece of the Nar’doroc deep within a perilous hinterland. Beset by vicious monstrosities, they uncover a place where ancient secrets lay forgotten, a graveyard abandoned to the march of time. Its revelations could lead them to the next fragment of the shattered artifact, but menace lurks in the shadows of its history. To survive it, a dangerous sacrifice must be made.
Across the Stormy Sea, Nalia Arynthaal, Princess of the Winter Passes, dives into the midst of an empire at war. With nothing but guile and icy resolve, she works to revenge herself upon those who disgraced her family. #5 – The Oath of the Blade
Death comes for the living. Only the coldest steel can face it.
The forces of destruction gather their strength, hunting the shattered fragments of the ancient Nar’doroc. They prepare their final, deadly strike, and the dead rise to follow them. Those who would defend the world from the ravages of the artifact race to reassemble the pieces, but their efforts may yet lead to defeat.
War rages in the south, but the front is stalked by a silent, implacable killer. Brave warriors battle for their lives, but the shadows hide a threat that even steel cannot face.
For steel is nothing without heart, and hearts will be tested.
#6 – The Shadow of Death
Shadows grow in fading light, hungry fiends just out of sight.
A terrible goddess stalks the world. Nothing survives her regard. The dead march to the commands of wicked masters, spreading a plague of destruction. The hunt for the shattered Nar’doroc quickens, and few will survive its conclusion. Only the strongest inner flame can face the dark, but shadows gather where light cannot reach.
Shadows whisper. Shadows lie. Shadows live and shadows die.
