The death of coven member Athens Rice was shocking enough but what is puzzling is that none sensed her death for the moment of the death of a witch is felt by his or her fellow witches. Nor, do any know the reason she had been at the harbor that evening or what the bizarre symbols etched onto her flesh mean. When several more witches are found dead mimicking methods used to kill witches in the past and the same symbols show up once more, it sends Thames to seek out answers from his grandmother, the matriarch of the Saint Claire family, who resides at the ancestral estate of Goldfield. Arriving as one of his grandmother’s famed balls is in full swing, Thames is approached by a young man who claims to know him yet Thames has no memory of having ever met the beguiling and enigmatic Coy MacQueen. Yet he cannot deny the strong pull of familiarity toward Coy.
As he delves deeper into Athens mysterious death, Thames path is taken to a vampire club where possible answers lay with a young man that last saw her alive. Once again, his path crosses with Coy and as the two seek answers from the young man, the club is attacked by faceless warriors that bring death and destruction.
Escaping the club fire, Thames seeks out Coy and together they discover the events in Boston mirror those that have occurred in Coy’s hometown of Glens Falls, New York. As they seek further answers, they come to the attention of a dark witch and demon who serve an ancient entity who does not wish for Thames and Coy to interfere further in the dark and bloody events that are unfolding.
Now, Thames and Coy must work together to stop this ancient evil known as the Pale Mother from rising and reuniting with a greater evil that is already in the world.
