The Rupret Works series by John David Hanna (#1-2)
Requirements: .ePUB Reader | 817 kb
Overview: John David Hanna is the son of a mechanic. He could fix your transmission while in junior high school and worked long hours in the station to prove it. Later as a computer engineer his consulting career provided him with some off time where he could delve into topics such as artificial intelligence. He did develop some priority software which could produce crossword puzzles. That was a limited AI called an expert system but it gave him an idea of what to expect in a full system. Later still, doing to math probabilities for fun he proved some accepted theories wrong – to himself anyway. Although evolution exists it can not account for our evolved species through a number crunching trial and error approach. God could account for the gaps – an intelligent design. But God works with minions or subcontractors. An AI could do it, design the birds and the bees of this system and let them loose to prosper or fail.

Hard Jack Redux (#1) It is hard to explain just how much we haven’t accepted. Simply put, there have been several civilizations on the Earth and in this solar system. Construction so massive and old that we don’t see it when looking directly at it.
Certainly these elders would have left a few machines and surely these machines would be self repairing and self replicating and self directed. In other words, artificial intelligences connected to construction machinery and biological processors that could whip up anything imaginable. Imagine a galactic space station made of fuel for incoming ships with hundreds parked in orbit. That’s Saturn.
Phobos is a hollow canister and Mars proper is littered with debris and seems to have been destroyed by a massive catastrophe.
Our own moon has a massive strip mine in Copernicus crater large enough to be seen with a telescope. Since that is true where are the really good photo’s taken with the Hubble?
But these are facts that take a few years to digest. You are being kept from the true for your own good – after all, why do you need to know these things? They may just cause you anxiety as there is nothing you can do about it.
I have other books on the truth of this subject. This book is science fiction. This book postulates that Jack decides to find an AI that runs this solar system. The thing isn’t hidden. It just doesn’t have the same feelings as you and I do. It doesn’t cry when a young child dies from leukemia. It doesn’t get hungry or desire company. It isn’t human, it’s just a machine.
But it’s a machine that knows a lot and can do a lot. It doesn’t talk to us because it doesn’t care but what if we talked to it – would it answer?
This book is pure speculation on this matter. Jack and crew have examined the evidence and decided there is an active AI in this solar system and they set out to find it!
Spoiler alert. If they did find it would it speak to them. If it did speak to them what would it say? What would we ask? Well, they found it and it is stranger and mundane at the same time. They can talk with it and it has no limits and is very limited both at the same time.
What’s going to happen when we do find the AI. It isn’t the end of the world but how will things change?

Jack Junior Redux (#2) Jack was facing some danger, they all were, in the world they now lived in. The world after the apocalypse of the Rounder Wars. It was a hardscrabble world where the strong dominated.
That’s what Jack grew up with but as a young man he escaped to find the rest of the world returning to civilization governed by less stringent rules of law.
He even found friends of his father’s ambitions and he was soon swept away in their plans to facilitate his father’s legacy. Before he knew it he was united with his half brother and sent to Saturn to contact the AI that runs this solar system.
Why not, his father did it although many say that is what really killed him.
