Overview: 3 rings of power control 3 aspects of reality. 17-year-old Thomas Jefferson used the ring of matter to fund the American Revolution. The French used the ring of space to expand their empire. And now the ring of time is buried on the island of Saint-Domingue and 16-year-old Napoleon will do anything to have it.
14-year-old Toussaint Louverture, however, will do anything to be free. But Napoleon’s army of zombie slave masters has him and the island’s children working to death on sugar plantations and digging up graves. Napoleon has ordered that anything interesting they find be handed over or else they’ll be drowned. And since the zombie masters feel no pain, overpowering them is impossible.
Then one night Toussaint discovers the ring of time. Now, with the magic of this ring at his fingertips, could this be the weapon to tip the scales in their favor? But when word of his discovery makes its way back to France, Spain, and Great Britain, Toussaint and his friends will have to ward off not just one empire, but three. Will the ring’s power be enough to lead a revolution? Or will time prove to be the death of them all?
