The Perseus series by Marcia Tucker (#1-2)
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 1 MB
Overview: Marcia Tucker, retired educator and frequent dabbler in many things metaphysical, has been scribbling out oddments of poetry and science fiction since discovering Isaac Asimov and Arthur C. Clarke when she was twelve years old. Some oddments later evolved into epic, lengthy space operas filling seven three-ring binders, handwritten on college-ruled notebook paper, pre-PC era. This, since 2011, has developed into the Perseus Series. Some oddments coming together as poetry won her recognition in high school and an award. She never wrote to publish, writing as a life-process and a cathartic vehicle. Still, there are plenty of itches to scratch, and more oddments to scribble out, though laptops have long since replaced pen and paper. The Perseus Series, with its themes of constructed intelligence, telepathy, and alternate universes, is her beloved life work. It is currently expected to be complete in fourteen volumes.
Genre: Fiction > Sci-Fi/Fantasy
The Perseus Series is an adventurous exploration into the realms of telepathy, artificial intelligence, alternate universes, space travel and the frontiers of personhood. You will meet the Starguards, who live to face down and resolve the most deadly threats against the safety and harmony of the egalitarian United Star Communities. You’ll also meet noisome predatory creatures — or constructed, sentient beings like the Crater–class cybernisms — or intelligent species loosely resembling dolphins and octopuses. There may be pirates. There may be love found in surprising places. There may be galactic tricksters. It’s going to be quite the ride.
1. Andromedea
Vekta Rentclifv is the premier cybernetics engineer of the United Star Communities, but is a troubled man, still grieving the loss of his wife a year after her tragic accident. When a former colleague in the Perseus Guard runs afoul of an alien incursion, the pain is once again fresh. Moreover, his telepathic powers have caught the notice of a being observing him… who intends to set him on a path that will change him forever. When circumstances demand his involvement in the mission to answer this new threat, Vekta has to choose between this critical need and leaving his twin children.
2. Eye of the Gazelle
Something is seriously wrong in the Gozgazel System. Vekta Rentclifv and his mental match, Novella Aurand, must risk their minds, sanity and even lives to solve the puzzle of the Eye of the Gazelle, a dimensional bubble warping into Alpha Universe. Meanwhile, his 11-year-old twins will encounter dangers of their own. There are “dragonfly people” who can see across dimensions. There are pesky energy entities who get in the way. There are observers watching all this play out – including the Crater 0001.
