3. Impossible Nazi
Heinrich Schloss, the Chancellor of the German Reich cannot rest. He successfully surmounts one challenge only to be faced with another. England shuns the peace table. The Jews in Palestine, though thankful for Germany’s support, seek their own self-determination. The United States is wary of a commitment to a cohesive European strategy. Schloss is threatened by those who would unknowingly expose his past as an alternate Schloss from a parallel universe. The High Command of the German armed forces resists his efforts at reform. And Winston Churchill wants him dead and is constantly scheming to accomplish that task. Everywhere Schloss looks, he sees storm clouds on the horizon.

5. Resolute Nazi
Heinrich Schloss, the Accidental Nazi, has successfully surmounted the challenges he has confronted. Yet each seems to demand more of his confidence and ruthlessness. The war with Russia has not gone well and he struggles to trust the generals who manage the Wehrmacht for Germany. An American newspaper begins an investigative reporting series on Germany’s treatment of the Jews, and Schloss’s abuses in particular. Since he arrived in this world following those events, he has no memory of the actions he is accused of. He is tormented by what he does not know. Some things have gone well. The relationship with the American government has blossomed to the mutual benefit of both countries. The English queen has reached out for a rapprochement. The economy has improved, despite the war. Yet Schloss and his fellow members of the government ultimately face a crisis that shakes them to the core.

6. Threads of Despair
Like the slow onset of a winter storm, Heinrich Schloss fights the troubles that close in around him. He and Peter suffer the grief of Renate Schreiber’s death and struggle to fight the implacable Russian foe that swept across the Polish plains. It seems that through a combination of innovative weapons and superior tactics, Schloss succeeds in stopping the Russians. Yet, they continue to advance. And Schloss continues to wonder about his purpose in this land that is very different from the world where he was born. Elsewhere, the Americans deal with the tragedy of a magnitude that threatens their pursuit of the war, and the British find themselves dependent upon the American actions. And the world events invariably swing around to impact Germany and Heinrich Schloss.
