Genre: Fantasy
1. Darts
It’s been a bad night for Teacup. He’s hungry, wet, and tired. He’s run afoul of the assassin’s guild, lost a bag of stolen goods, and bet his last penny on the local darts champion when he should have bought bread for his kids. Maybe fate needs a little help . . .
As a pastiche of Sword and Sorcery, “Darts” represents the core fantasy characters and archetypes that enthusiasts love (and hate), explores their deeper motivations, and reminds us that best friends are hard to come by.
2. Rings
Mr. Steep’s bad night has been put to bed: the dart game is finished, the assassins have gone home, and most of the fires are out. But the morning after is no cup of tea either. For one thing, Magnus still can’t see straight. Add to that a dress shop burnt to the ground, two hyperactive twins, and Lucinda’s awkward attempts to nurse Magnus back to health, and Teacup begins to wonder if he shouldn’t just stay in bed . . .
RINGS addresses unanswered questions from DARTS and toys with favorite caricatures from Sword and Sorcery. It also asks new questions: Since when could Petri leap between rooftops?
3. Swords
Teamus “Teacup” Steeps is an acquisitioner, not a thief. Or he was. It’s pretty hard to hold down any kind of job—reputable or not—when the assassin’s guild thinks you’ve challenged their honor. (And it really doesn’t help that his friends keep bragging about it.)
With the dark guild dogging his every step, Teamus decides there’s no shame in seeking protection for his family in Fortrus, a city that prides itself in being “100% assassin-free.” Unfortunately, Fortrus also prides itself in stirring up the very kind of trouble that Teacup would like to avoid.
SWORDS takes the loose ends from DARTS and RINGS and weaves a tapestry twice as big, exploring the themes of order and chaos on an increasingly epic scale. As
Sword and Sorcery pastiche, SWORDS represents the core fantasy characters and archetypes that enthusiasts love (and hate), chips away at their hidden motivations, and reminds us that good friends are hard to come by.
