Raised as a mine slave, at 18 Arlian escapes into the arms of the inmates of the House of Carnal Society. When that brothel is burned and its women abducted by Lord Dragon, Arlian’s quest for vengeance intensifies. Under the tutelage of a caravan guard named Black, he learns swordsmanship and trading, and gains great wealth. Using the name Lord Obsidian, Arlian pursues both Lord Dragon’s minions and the noble owners of the Carnal House, but his hunt is deterred by two shattering discoveries: that vengeance is, after all, distasteful to him; and that his childhood encounter with dragons has made him like his enemiesAnearly immortal, charismatic and eligible to join the ruling Dragon Society. The Dragon Society
Having survived an encounter with a dragon, Arlian also known as Lord Obsidian qualifies as a member of the elite and dangerous Dragon Society, whose members enjoy the benefits of agelessness and increased vigor even as they grow less human with each passing year. When Arlian inherits the secret knowledge of a fellow Society member, he takes upon himself the challenge of waging a final war against dragonkind and against the other members of the Dragon Society.
Dragon Venom
This trilogy about Arlian the dragon-slayer concludes with Arlian wreaking the last of his vengeance on dragonkind. Having discovered the secrets of the Dragon Society and of obsidian as a lethal weapon against dragons, Arlian is prepared to eradicate the entire despised breed. As he pursues that consummation, however, wild magic is unleashed on the world, and the question arises of whether his actions have something to do with the crisis. Is he doing more harm than good? Does dragon venom hold the key to the balance between men and magic?
