The Morthern Detectives series by Robert H Wilde (#1-2)
Requirements: .ePUB Reader, 445 KB
Overview: Robert Wilde is a writer from Flitwick in Britain, and he’s mentioned that partly because of the Harry Potter connection. He covers non-fiction, particularly history, but loves writing stories and hopes people will love reading them too. He has an MA in history from Sheffield University and has written about the subject digitally and in print for over twenty years. He is passionate about writing history in a way people will engage with. In terms of fiction, he is inspired by the old masters like MR James and Lovecraft, but also modern writers like Steven Moffat. Robert’s first novel was called Adored, and was described by a reader as “very good but really, really depressing.” If you’re (un)lucky he might release it one day.
Genre: Fiction > Mystery/Thriller
1. Power and Control
The government’s retreat from healthcare lets other groups care for the sick, and as the politics of power lead a church to prey on the vulnerable so lies, corruption and murder follow. The Morthern Detectives are trying to solve a series of potential suicides, but in austerity Britain the government retreated from them too, and the problems the Major Crimes Unit face come from above as well as below.
2. Gilded Hate Machine
Society is breaking down in Morthern as right wing groups wield social media as a weapon, and the Mayoral elections are a chance for clickhate to produce victory. The Morthern Detectives scramble to solve spiralling hate crimes which lead, sadly and inevitably, to murder. But how can you stop the criminals below as well as the paranoid leaders above?
