#2 – Fighting Back
The summer is over, with all of its drama and excitement and change. Jared and Cara are happily married. Issio and Sofi, next door, are getting ready for the arrival of their baby and enjoying the presence of their adopted Earthian daughter, Gina McIntosh. Her younger brother, Terry, is settled with the five D’ubians in the half-a-house on the corner, and studying in the music department of the Conservatory of the Performing Arts.
Jared’s work team, trying to interpret the runes on the mysterious arches of OR2, have their computers and projectors and other tools in Ann’s basement across the street. The security is better here. And they have the help of the representatives of the hidden fifth species, who may know a little more than they admit about the situation.
And two of the enemies are caged in harmless animal bodies, and two others in Earthian bodies have ended up in the hands of the justice system, and can expect a long incarceration in a mental institute. No one feels much sympathy for them.But one of the enemies is not accounted for. The entity they still think of as the fly no longer has her insect body, but she is free, looking for another body in which to create mischief and chaos.And they have to figure out a way to identify her and deal with her before she does any actual harm.
#3 – Winter
Jared and his friends, his virtual family, are drawn together from all four species in the Alliance. They are the Misborn, they agree, hiding talents that set them apart from their own people. Comfortable in their little group, they live quiet normal lives with work, and lovers, and now children, the ordinary sort of lives they want. But entities from another dimension have moved into this universe through an portal accidentally opened. They probably want this universe, or at least a large portion of it, although they really don’t know how it works, or how to live in it. They certainly want to get rid of this multi-species group that can actually drive them away. So Jared and his friends are assaulted by such unusual enemies as a potty-mouthed field mouse, a pornographically-minded spider-like pest, a heavy-handed bully obsessed with attacking them.
#4 – Maud
If you want it done right, you have to do it yourself.Centuries ago, Maud’s people came from another dimension and found ways to establish themselves here. But now other entities from this dimension are trying to move in, a nuisance now, a threat for the future.Maud has watched as her friends, native to this dimension, use their special abilities to drive off the invaders, or try to close down the portal. They don’t, of course, know as much about that other dimension as Maud does. So maybe it’s time for Maud to take charge herself.
#5 – Priscilla
Their enemies are organizing around a leader, and growing much more violent. To have any chance of defeating them, Jared must bring together the psi talents of all his friends and family, including members of all four Alliance species and people from three extra-dimensional races, two entities in robotic bodies, and one in the body of the most ferocious predator on the planet. And in his spare time, he must deal with his wife’s grandfather, who has an evil temper and ambitions of his own, and he promised to teach his neighbor’s daughter to drive. What could be easier?
