Overview: Frederik George Pohl, Jr. (Nov.26, 1919–Sept.2, 2013) was an American science fiction writer, editor and fan, with a career spanning more than seventy-five years. His multiple-award winning novel Gateway, first serialized in Galaxy S.F in 1976/1977, was preceded a few years earlier by this. "The Merchants of Venus" is a novella first published in Worlds of If, July-Aug 1972. It is a satire of runaway free market capitalism. It also features the first appearance of the Heechee. There was graphic novel adaption by Victoria Petersen and Neal McPheeters in 1986, and you’ll find a link to it below.
