In the midst of strange objects and notes, the deceased’s housekeeper tells him that Leone was obsessed with Egypt in the last ten years of his life. Intrigued by the huge secret that seems to contain the pyramid of Cheops and the strange circumstances of the death of the mysterious donor, Poulain left for Cairo. Hunting secrets can begin!
After visiting the hometown of Fabien Vehlmann (The five storytellers of Baghdad, The Aftermath without cloud, God smelly farts God, Green Manor, Only) Marquis of Anaon book an adventure a bit lighter, within of a more exotic setting. Despite the change in context,the reader is once again caught up in the atmosphere and quickly became eager to discover the mysteries hidden there. In this respect, the wealth of Egyptian civilization and the slums of Cairo have nothing to envy to popular belief hexagonal. Fed by an enchanting atmosphere, This story raises the perfectly controlled crescendo outstanding. Throughout the pages, the reader discovers the other protagonists and the secrets they hide. The plot, built around the grounds of this generous patron and fled into the treasure chamber of Cheops, is actually quite simple, but extremely effective. The narrative and psychological development of the protagonists are always so clear. The central figure remains very endearing and has evolved considerably since the beginning of the saga. Rich experience of his previous investigations,it comes off gradually from its status as "reluctant hero" and is becoming more and more in his investigative role. If the presence of an attractive slave adds a touch of lightness to the story, the author also takes the opportunity to portray little shimmering of the French aristocracy emigrated on the banks of the Nile. Unlike Jean-Baptiste Poulain, this caste imbued notables, who accumulate excess, eventually reach a deep antipathy.
Graphically, Matthew Bonhomme (Sir William’s journey Esteban) abandons the snowy scenery for the African sun. The characteristic style of this designer who received the Alph-Art’s first album of Angoulême in 2003 for the Age of Reason continues to fly, especially in environments that still manages to magnify Delf with colorization very appropriate. Note also, that during the release of the fifth installment, a new model of the four previous albums is proposed by Dargaud, with redesigned covers for the occasion.
