Overview: Humanity met the aliens, the outcome was not good. World leaders hold their collective breath when alien spaceships emerge from a wormhole behind the moon. Governments keep their impending arrival a secret, as their air forces confront the aliens. The invaders ignore efforts at communication, but show no hostile intent. Even when China’s trigger-happy air force general finally orders an attack, the only action is a protective response. However, the response speaks volumes about the aliens’ superior weaponry. Efforts at secrecy soon fail in the age of digital communication. Public reaction is mixed. Some people panic, others go into survivalist mode, a minority believe the Rapture is imminent, while the majority watches and wonders. Without warning, the aliens suddenly launch a devastatingly destructive attack against carefully selected targets. As the world struggles to survive, the aliens release a biological weapon that is genetically engineered to destroy humanity. A struggle ensues to find a cure for the alien plague, even as some religious fanatics try to block the cure in their fervor to bring on the Rapture. Can the human race rise from the ashes? Even if humanity survives, can it endure another attack? If so, major changes are needed to restore economic and everyday functionality. These changes must achieve a balance with heavy costs for new weapons development, for it is likely that the aliens will return with a second invasion wave. A new world government struggles to arise from the ashes. Will humanity survive when the aliens return for the final battle?
