The Hidden Realm series by A. Giannetti (#1-#4)
Requirements: Epub reader, 8.09 Mb
Overview: The Hidden Realm series will consist of seven books. The five books already available on kindle or in print are listed on page one. Future books will be The Quest and The War of the Rings. At some point, I would also like to do an anthology of the series with pronunciations, maps, and a history of the events that led up to Elerian’s adventures in the fourth age.
Genre: Fantasy
The Foundling (The Hidden Realm #1)
The Foundling begins with a chance encounter between an old man named Balbus and a small boy named Elerian. They meet in the depths of a dangerous forest, and believing Elerian to be an orphan, Balbus decides to take him home, a decision that turns his quiet life upside down. Balbus discovers that Elerian is no ordinary child, and that he is being hunted by a number of enemies, all of whom are determined to kill him for reasons of their own. To keep Elerian alive, Balbus is forced to contend with shape shifters, Goblins, and other magical creatures. He is often aided by his good friend Tullius who possesses magical powers. And sometimes, Elerian, who possesses magical powers of his own, is forced to step in and rescue both of his protectors.
The Foundling is the first of six books about the life and the adventures of Elerian. It is an integral part of my Hidden Realm series because it reveals many details of Elerian’s younger years and his introduction to magic, but the book itself is written for children and the young at heart. If you do not fall into one of these two categories then I would suggest that you move on to the The Mage, the second book in the series. The Mage and the four books which follow it are more suitable for young adults and adults.
The Mage (The Hidden Realm #2)
The Mage is the second book in a series of six that chronicle the life and adventures of Elerian, the mysterious orphan who first appeared in The Foundling.
In The Mage, Elerian is now a young man and an accomplished mage. When his old enemy Drusus unexpectedly reappears, Elerian attempts to rid the countryside of an ancient danger. The resulting struggle taxes Elerian’s strength and magical powers to the utmost. It also inadvertently rekindles his curiosity about his origins, which are shrouded in mystery. With his grandfather’s encouragement, Elerian leaves the safe countryside where he grew up, embarking on a series of journeys to the wild lands to the north and east with the hope of finding information that will unlock the secrets of his past. During his travels, he encounters a variety of strange, sometimes magical creatures and finds himself thrust into one dangerous situation after another. Elerian discovers that the Goblins are stirring again in the Middle Realm and accidentally reveals himself to their Dark King, with disastrous consequences for himself and the two old men who raised him.
The Warrior (The Hidden Realm #3)
The Warrior chronicles the adventures of Elerian and Ascilius as they cross the Broken Lands after escaping from Nefandus. Their journey to Ascilius’s home city of Ennodius takes an unexpected detour that embroils them in a war between the Goblins and the riders of Tarsius.
Ennodius (The Hidden Realm #4)
Ennodius has a great deal to do with Dwarves, their secret cities, and, of course, dragons. Ascilius’s plan to rescue his people and his treasure meets with unexpected problems, putting his life and Elerian’s in the gravest danger as they struggle to outwit the dragon that has made Ennodius its own.
