      The Last Flight is a comic book written by Regis Hautière and designed by Romain Hugault. This album, released in 2005 by Editions Paquet, tells the story of four pilots of World War II whose paths will cross:

        The Cerry Blossom:

          Teruo is a pilot of the Imperial Japanese Army (Dai Nippon Koku teikoku Rikugun honbu). He drives a Misubishi A6M5 "Zero." He was appointed for a suicide mission and die crashing on an aircraft carrier of the United States. His story takes place in April 1945. We read in As its mission the letter he wrote to his father, tradition kamikaze pilots before their "last flight", the end of his letter to the explosion of the aircraft on the aircraft carrier.

        The Reprieve:

          Tom is a pilot of the Air Force of the United States (United States of America Air Force). He drives a Republic P47-D "Thunderbolt." His story takes place in June 1944, just after the Allied landing in Normandy. He was responsible for destroying the German railroad. It will be injured and killed by anti-aircraft defense of a train but will succeed in regaining allied lines. It will be removed later in England and then assigned to the training of new pilots in the Pacific. It will eventually be killed by the explosion of the aircraft flown by the Japanese Teruo.

        The Iron Cross:

          Günther is a pilot of the German Air Force (Luftwaffe). He drives a Messerschmitt BF-109 G-10. His story takes place in March 1944. Its mission is to intercept a large formation of American bombers at high altitude.During this mission, he will be affected by the aircraft of the U.S. Tom. His plane distraught himself too injured to eject, he will die when his plane will crash in a field.

        Angel Drop:

          Alain is a pilot of the Soviet Air Force, in particular the French detachment "Normandie-Niemen". He drives a Yakovlev Yak-9T. His story takes place in November 1943. His last mission was escorting a freighter with his captain. He will have to engage in combat with two German planes, one of which is controlled by the German Günther. They are going to get rid of the first two, but his plane will be touched and his guns mitigated. To prevent the second German plane down to the cargo plane, he will have deliberately collide with him, which will take his life. We learn later that Günther survives the collision.
