ELRIC-As an unhuman army engulfs Tanelorn, the albino Elric, last sorcerer-king of Melnibone, fights to keep the black sword Stormbringer from being taken by Gaynor the Damned…

2. The Skrayling Tree: GOLDEN CITY-Under a paling blue sky reflected in the great plain of ice, Kakatanawa gleamed. An immense ziggurat, as high as a skyscraper, made of solid gold. The base was at least a mile wide and the tiers marched up, step by enormous step, to a crown where what might be a temple blazed. The city was alive with activity. I could see ranks of people moving back and forth between the levels, the gardens which draped startling greenery over balconies and terraces. It was an entire country in a single immense building! Ayanawatta laughed, and White Crow smiled at my astonishment…
NINE BY NINE AND THREE BY THREE-In search of her kidnapped husband, Oona von Bek and the mammoth-riding shaman White Crow must cross Hiawatha’s lands of legend to a fabled golden city…
WE ALL SEEK-Looking for the creators of the black sword Stormbringer, Elric of Melnibone journeys to Vinland, where he encounters fierce pygmies in need of an ally…

3. The White Wolf’s Son: In British author Moorcock’s latest installment in an epic fantasy saga that began in 1965, Prince Gaynor the Damned and his sidekick, Klosterheim, plot the end of the created universe and try to capture a 12-year-old English girl, Oonagh von Bek, to attain their ends. The Dreamthief’s daughter, Oona (who’s Oonagh’s grandmother); Elric of Melniboné; and others who constantly fight to restore, maintain and sometimes destroy the Cosmic Balance seek to protect the girl and, eventually, another youngster kin to Elric and Oona. Told from the viewpoint of young Oonagh and filtered through her later adult perspective, the adventure starts in Yorkshire then spans the multiverse and several versions of Mirenburg to reach its climax in the Dark Empire of Granbretan. Informative philosophizing by various characters adds to, rather than impedes, the complex and entertaining plot. In lesser hands such intrusions as Una Persson’s spiel on Elric’s Dream of a Thousand Years probably wouldn’t work, but from the ever original, vastly influential Moorcock (The Dreamthief’s Daughter), they only enhance a triumph of mature talent and imagination.
